Systems Analyst (EDI) Connected Customer, CIS

Systems Analysts in the EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) Group are responsible for mapping data flows between Expeditors and our customers. This consists of analyzing customer specifications describing how they will send data or how they want data received, understanding how that information will be used in the context of our business and proprietary systems, and distilling it into a mapping document used to create the code that transforms the data.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Collaborate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to define requirements and complete projects
• Perform analysis on business/system requirements and technical specifications
• Produce mapping document
• Produce a test plan, run, and validate all relevant outputs to verify program logic
• Establish data-communication links with trading partners
• Produce operational documentation for end users
• Review and evaluate incoming work requests
• Meet aggressive goals for project deliverables and completion by using best practices for project management

Skill and Knowledge Requirements:

• Minimum of 2+ years of relevant EDI analyst experience.
• Excellent analytical skills
• Deep understanding of database structures, data files, and data relationships
• Strong working knowledge of business and operational processes
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
• Ability to design creative and innovative solutions to meet the customer’s needs
• Ability to take complex concepts and break them down for a non-technical audience
• Working knowledge of SQL
• Proficiency with EDI Standards (ANSI X12, EDIFACT), XML, and flat files.
