Job Title: Application Owner (IT Application Owner)

Job Summary

The Application Owner is the single point of accountability for the full lifecycle of one or more critical business applications in the financial services domain (e.g., core banking, digital payments, lending platforms, trading systems, risk management, or customer onboarding solutions).

You will bridge business and technology teams, ensure regulatory compliance, manage risk, deliver high availability & performance, and drive continuous value realization while controlling costs. This role combines strategic oversight, operational excellence, and strong governance — especially critical in a highly regulated financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

Own the end-to-end application lifecycle (requirements → development → testing → deployment → maintenance → decommissioning).

Define and maintain the technology roadmap in alignment with business strategy, regulatory changes, and the bank’s IT standards.

Lead risk & compliance management: Identify, track, and remediate risks, gaps, and audit findings (RBI guidelines, PCI-DSS, data localization, cybersecurity frameworks, SOX/equivalent, internal & external audits).

Monitor and report SLAs, KPIs, capacity, performance, and availability; proactively escalate issues and drive corrective actions.

Collaborate with business stakeholders, Product Owners, Development teams, Infrastructure, and Vendors to prioritize backlog, enhancements, and defect fixes.

Plan and execute application upgrades, patches, migrations, and license management with minimal business disruption.

Facilitate change management, release coordination, and post-implementation reviews.

Ensure robust documentation, knowledge management, and training for support teams and end-users.

Act as the primary escalation point for production issues (L3/L4) and coordinate with global/virtual teams when required.

Drive adoption of modern practices (Agile/DevOps, automation, cloud migration) while maintaining compliance guardrails.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Finance, or related field.

4-6 years of IT experience, with at least 4+ years in an Application Owner / IT Application Management role within Banking, Fintech, or Financial Services.

Strong understanding of financial services regulations (RBI, SEBI, NPCI, PCI-DSS, data privacy laws) and IT risk frameworks.
