Job Purpose: Engineer - Field Quality (Civil / Mechanical) is responsible for ensuring the quality and performance of civil and mechanical works on site for solar and wind projects. This role involves overseeing field inspections, testing activities, and compliance with quality assurance protocols, including the preparation and submission of inspection reports. The Engineer will collaborate with contractors and site management to uphold standards, facilitate timely approvals, and implement process improvements. A key focus is on maintaining safety protocols, achieving zero non-conformities, and supporting the training and development of the project workforce to enhance overall quality performance.
ResponsibilitiesTechnical –
- Storage Infrastructure: Proper utilization of storage infrastructure, manpower and adequate T&T for safe and speedy handling of materials at site.
- Process compliance as per SOP for all stores management activities at Project level.
- Monitoring and timely closure of RGP (Returnable Gate Pass).
- Ensuring material consumption posting on daily basis.
- Preparing Goods Receipt Note (GRN) and achieving GRN SLA targets
- Monitoring slow, non-moving, and high-ageing inventory, and generating surplus inventory reports.
- Applying inventory control techniques and ensuring inventory optimization at site.
Managerial –
- Ownership of PROJECT stores management functions and compliance with company policies and SOPs
- Set target ZERO deviation in SOP compliances
- Coordination with HO, site team and regional head through inventory MIS reviews and presentations.
- Establishing adequate store infrastructure and manpower for smooth functioning
- Team Leadership: Manage the operation with optimal manpower w/out scarifying SOP guidelines.
- Training & Compliance: Assess training needs, ensure policy adherence, and maintain documentation as per corporate and statutory guidelines
- Performance Monitoring: Conduct regular stock audits and ensure SAP updates for receipts, issues, transfers, and returns.
- Ensure timely completion of inventory audit consisting of stock count and other stores related process and assure compliances as per approved internal control system.
Strategic –
- Utilization of surplus inventory through coordination b/w sites and Ho.
- Proactive mitigation of inventory risks by monitoring and managing surplus and ageing items
- Continuous improvement focusses by integrating digital tools into inventory management.
- Smooth HOTO of mandatory spares from project to PROJECT.
- Ensure ESG norms compliances w.r.t. inventory storage and management and waste disposal.
Financial/P&L –
- Ensure inventory in between Min-Max level to avoid shortfall and over inventory at Project.
- Inventory review and plan for consumption of excess inventory, Review of Non-moving and slow-moving inventory at Project level.
- Timely scrap disposal to get the best salvage value and utilization too in other business if required.
Quality/Safety –
- Ensure preliminary quantity checks and quality inspections are conducted before accepting materials.
- Oversee acceptance/rejection protocols and ensure proper documentation like GRN (Goods Receipt Note) is maintained

- Driver Compliance: Drivers must have valid licenses, undergo safety induction, and follow defensive driving protocols.
- Unloading Protocols – Slings and rigging safety.
Statutory/Regulatory Compliance –
- BRSR audit & compliances - key ESG norms and ensuring adherence to the Hazardous Waste Disposal Compliance.
- Handling of explosive items B class HSD and bulk storage of oils etc
Key Deliverables (Goals & KRA)
- Ownership of Project stores management functions and ensuring process of compliance as per company’s policies and SOP.
- Comprehensive training and guidance to down team about stores functions for smooth implementing of SOP and periodic review by doing functional review and shortfall to comply in stipulated time frame.
- Preparing monthly PV and MIS of Project sites and submit to HO.
- Preparing GRN’s with in SLA and Material issuance on time and SLA achievement.
- Ensure timely processing of all incoming materials invoices at ABEX.
- RGP monitoring and timely closure.
- Monitoring self life inventory at Project for timely utilization.
- Adopt digitization of inventory management process.
- Close coordination with SH and HO-Stores to establish better stores management functions.
- Preparing Project Inventory MIS and submit to HO.
- Monitoring of slow and non-moving inventory.
- Ensure Safe preservation of Inventory.
- Surplus inventory liquidation and monitoring in shortfall in liquidation are being brought to the notice of HOD.
- Apply inventory control techniques like VED/FAS/Min-Max level and ABC to have better control over inventory for Project PROJECT stores.
- Periodically Project site store visit, regular functional reviews and ensure compliances within the specified timeframe to set right the system.
- Coordinate with internal (MAAS), external audit team and get done audit smoothly. Ensure audit compliances within the given time frame with CAPA.
- Ensure well in time scrap disposal for Project. Coordination with site team and ask them to raise NFA and necessary approval.
- Ensure compliances of scrap disposal as per approved policy.
QualificationsQualification & Certification
- BA/MBA/Diploma in Material Management/SCM
EExperience
- More than 17 years of experience in renewable energy Solar) materials management.
- Should have good inventory management professional and ability to manage Project Stores.
