Job Description - Test Engineer

Job Description Summary

The Testing Engineer will be responsible for planning, executing, and documenting prototype testing, product validation, and certification-related testing activities for Containerized Solar Inverter/BESS Converter Power stations . The role involves working closely with design, systems, quality, manufacturing, and compliance teams to ensure product performance, reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance with applicable UL and IEC standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in power electronics testing, high-power laboratory environments, test automation, and certification support for grid-connected inverter systems.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Prototype Testing Support

  • Assist in planning and executing prototype tests for utility-scale solar inverter systems and related subsystems.
  • Help set up test equipment, instruments, and test configurations under supervision.
  • Perform basic functional, performance, and safety-related test activities as assigned.
  • Record test data accurately and report observations to senior engineers.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts by identifying and documenting test anomalies.

Product Validation Support

  • Assist in validation testing to verify inverter performance against design requirements.
  • Help conduct tests related to electrical performance, thermal behavior, and operational functionality.
  • Support data collection for grid condition testing, ride-through behavior, and power quality evaluation.
  • Maintain test records and support traceability of requirements and results.
  • Participate in test reviews and learning sessions with engineering teams.

UL & IEC Certification Support

  • Assist with preparation of certification test setups, documentation, and technical records.
  • Support internal and third-party certification testing activities under supervision.
  • Help compile test data, calibration records, and supporting documents required for UL and IEC compliance.
  • Learn applicable standards and contribute to gap tracking and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate with senior engineers to ensure test documentation is complete and accurate.

Laboratory Support

  • Help operate laboratory equipment, data acquisition systems, and measurement tools safely.
  • Follow all lab safety procedures, electrical safety rules, and PPE requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining test area organization, equipment readiness, and calibration tracking.
  • Learn proper use of high-voltage and high-power test systems.

Documentation and Communication

  • Prepare test notes, logs, and summary reports as directed.
  • Maintain organized records of test activities, observations, and results.
  • Communicate issues, delays, or equipment concerns promptly to supervisors.
  • Support preparation of presentations and engineering documentation when needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field.
  • 0–3 years of experience in testing, validation, or laboratory work.
  • Basic understanding of power electronics, electrical measurements, and test equipment.
  • Strong willingness to learn about solar inverter systems and certification processes.
  • Good analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work safely in a laboratory or high-voltage environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship, academic project, or industry exposure related to solar inverters, power conversion, or power systems.
  • Familiarity with UL or IEC standards is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of inverter testing, grid-tied systems, or renewable energy technologies.
  • Experience using measurement tools such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, multimeters, or DAQ systems.
  • Exposure to lab safety practices and electrical test procedures.
