Job Description - Tier 1 Employee Relations Specialist HR Shared Services

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for Employee Relations Specialist to join our HR Shared Services Center, responsible for managing and resolving employee inquiries, concerns, and complaints through the ServiceNow case management system. This role requires an understanding of employment legislation, company policy, and investigative practices, with a strong ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations.
 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Case Management:
    • Manage and employee relations cases using the ServiceNow HR module, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
    • Triage, assess, and escalate cases as appropriate, maintaining service level agreements (SLAs) and compliance standards.
    • Follow specific work instructions tied to country and region-specific processes and regulations
  • Employee Relations Expertise:
    • Apply knowledge on workplace policies, procedures, and employment laws
    • Support the HR team in coordinating the process looking into employee concerns and potential policy issues.
    • Partner with Employee Relations Team and HR Solutions Partners teams to ensure consistent and fair outcomes.
  • Policy & Compliance:
    • Ensure all employee relations activities are compliant with internal standards and external regulations.
  • Confidentiality & Decision-Making:
    • Handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
    • Partner with the Employee Relations team by providing information and completing assigned tasks to help them make informed decisions in sensitive situations.
  • Reporting & Analytics:
    • Analyze case data to identify trends and recommend proactive solutions.
    • Prepare reports on case outcomes, risk areas, and improvement opportunities.
       

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 1 to 2 years of progressive experience in HR, preferably ER experience within a shared services or centralized HR model.
  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow HR case management or similar platforms.
  • Basic understanding of employment policies and procedures, with the ability to apply them during routine workplace matters.
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and make sound, ethical decisions under pressure.
     

Preferred Skills:

  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR).
  • Experience in a global or multi-state organization.
