Position Overview:
We are seeking a Universe Support Engineer to support and maintain the stability, availability, and performance of our legacy systems built on the Universe (UniVerse) platform. This role requires experience with legacy Universe BASIC, SQL/PLSQL, and strong operational support skills. You will be responsible for monitoring system health, investigating issues, supporting batch jobs and data processes, and working closely with infrastructure and development teams to ensure reliable day-to-day operations

Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain the health and performance of the Universe-based system and its integrated components.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues involving Universe BASIC programs, batch jobs, and data processes.
- Write, modify, and debug Universe BASIC code and shell scripts as needed for operational support.
- Execute and optimize SQL/PLSQL queries to support data analysis, troubleshooting, and reporting.
- Manage and support scheduled jobs, including backup, data loads, exports, and ETL processes.
- Collaborate with database administrators, developers, and infrastructure teams to resolve incidents and improve system stability.
- Participate in root cause analysis and problem management for recurring issues.
- Support change management, deployment coordination, and maintenance windows.
- Maintain up-to-date operational documentation, including runbooks, system procedures, and support guides.
- Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours support as needed for critical systems.
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a technical support or operational support role in an enterprise environment.
- Hands-on experience with Universe BASIC (or MultiValue BASIC) and the Universe database environment (Rocket UniVerse).
- Strong proficiency in SQL and PLSQL for data querying and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting
- Experience with job scheduling and monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with incident management tools (ServiceNow, Jira, PagerDuty).
- Strong analytical and communication skills with attention to detail
