Unreal Game Developer - Contractual role

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Unreal Engine Developer to join our development team on a contractual basis. This role is ideal for a developer with a strong background in Unreal Engine 5, C++, and multiplayer gameplay programming, who has successfully contributed to the development and shipment of at least one PC and/or Console title.

You will play a critical role in developing the core gameplay architecture for a high-quality, multiplayer, vehicle-centric action game, working closely with designers, artists, and technical teams to build scalable systems, optimize performance, and deliver an engaging player experience.

This is a short-term contractual engagement, with the potential for extension based on project requirements and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core gameplay systems using Unreal Engine 5.7 and  C++.


• Architect and implement robust multiplayer gameplay systems, including replication, RPCs, client-server architecture, session management, matchmaking, prediction, and network optimization.


• Develop gameplay mechanics for vehicle-based combat, player progression, weapons, damage systems, physics-driven interactions, AI behaviours, and environmental gameplay.


• Build scalable and reusable gameplay frameworks that support future content expansion.


• Collaborate closely with Game Designers to translate gameplay concepts into polished and production-ready features.


• Work with Technical Artists, Animators, and UI Developers to integrate gameplay systems with animations, VFX, audio, and user interfaces.


• Optimize gameplay performance across CPU, GPU, memory, networking, and loading pipelines for PC and Console platforms.


• Debug complex gameplay, networking, and engine-level issues while maintaining code quality and stability.


• Conduct code reviews, establish engineering best practices, and mentor junior developers where required.


• Ensure gameplay systems are maintainable, extensible, and aligned with long-term project architecture.

Required Experience

• 1-5 years of professional experience developing games using Unreal Engine.


• Must have contributed significantly to the development and successful shipment of at least one PC and/or Console game.


• Demonstrated experience implementing production-ready multiplayer gameplay systems.


• Experience working on fast-paced game development projects within Agile teams.


• Strong understanding of the complete game production pipeline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Game Development, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).


• Strong analytical thinking, debugging, and problem-solving skills.


• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.


• Ability to work independently, take ownership of technical systems, and deliver high-quality solutions within project timelines.
