About Lokal :

In 2018, we began with a WhatsApp group with a simple hypothesis: people in tier-2/3 towns weren’t really using the internet meaningfully yet. We believed that if we started with local content in their own language, they’d come back every day; once there was a habit and trust, that same space could naturally grow into classifieds and, eventually, something they used for almost everything online.

This spark became Lokal. Our first instinct was to put everything in one place & one app - local updates, classifieds, jobs, matrimony and more. It worked, till it stopped working. Users gave us the insight - when one use case outweighs the others, everything else seems like noise. We listened. Like how Craigslist quietly seeded a generation of focused companies & marketplaces, we began unbundling and verticalising.

About the role

We are looking for a detail-oriented Visual Designer who can create polished, consistent and scalable visual assets across our digital products and brands. You will work across UI, websites, campaigns and motion-design workflows—creating icons, illustrations, graphics, styleframes, templates and other visual assets. You will apply existing brand guidelines carefully while also helping the team identify gaps, explore new visual directions and evolve the system as new requirements emerge.

This is a fast-paced production role, but speed should never come at the cost of visual quality. We are looking for someone who notices the details: typography, spacing, alignment, perspective, colour, lighting, consistency, export quality and file organisation.

You should also be comfortable using AI-assisted creative workflows to explore directions and produce assets faster. AI-generated output is treated as raw material; the final quality, consistency and craft remain your responsibility.

What you will work on

Product and UI assets

• Create icons, illustrations, empty-state visuals, paywall graphics, promotional modules and category imagery for our digital products.
• Build coherent asset families rather than producing disconnected individual visuals.
• Work with product designers to ensure assets fit the intended UI hierarchy, dimensions, background and user context.

Brand application and evolution

• Apply established brand guidelines across products and communication.
• Build and publish brand kits containing approved logos, colours, typography, iconography, imagery and templates.
• Identify areas where existing guidelines are unclear or insufficient and expand them

What we are looking for

• Taste and attention to details
• Experience creating production-ready visual assets for digital interfaces.

Good to have

• Experience creating icon, illustration or category-visual systems.
• Basic motion-design knowledge or experience creating animation-ready assets.
• Experience designing for mobile products, websites and digital campaigns.
• Familiarity with Adobe Firefly, Midjourney, Recraft, ChatGPT, Magnific image generation or similar tools.
  

Portfolio requirements

Please share 3–5 projects demonstrating:

• A visual system containing multiple related icons, illustrations or graphic assets.
• Visual assets created for a mobile product or website.
• A campaign or design direction adapted across multiple formats.
• Brand-guideline application or brand-kit work.
• At least one project showing progression from exploration to polished final output.
• AI-assisted work, with a clear explanation of what was generated, what was manually refined and what decisions you made.

We care more about the craft, consistency and judgement visible in the final work than the number of tools used.
