Role Overview

The Vice President – Legal will lead the legal function for the organization and provide strategic legal guidance across all real estate development activities. The role will be responsible for managing land due diligence, title verification, joint venture agreements, RERA compliance, litigation management, and regulatory approvals related to real estate projects.

The incumbent will play a critical role in ensuring that all land acquisitions, development agreements, and project-related transactions comply with applicable laws and regulations while minimizing legal risks for the organization.

Key Responsibilities Land Due Diligence & Title Verification

  Lead comprehensive legal due diligence of land parcels prior to acquisition or development.

  Conduct title verification and ownership analysis, ensuring clear and marketable titles.

  
  


• 
  

  Review land records, encumbrances, and regulatory approvals related to land transactions.

  
  

Land Acquisition & Development Agreements

• 
  

  Provide legal support for land acquisition transactions and development projects.

  
  


• 
  

  Draft and review Joint Development Agreements (JDA), Joint Venture (JV) agreements, development agreements, and land purchase agreements.

  
  


• 
  

  Work closely with business and land acquisition teams to structure legally compliant transactions.

  
  

Contract Drafting & Legal Documentation

• 
  

  Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, MoUs, agreements, and legal documentation related to real estate projects.

  
  


• 
  

  Ensure legal safeguards are incorporated in all commercial agreements.

  
  

RERA & Regulatory Compliance

• 
  

  Ensure compliance with Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) regulations and other applicable statutory requirements.

  
  


• 
  

  Support project teams in obtaining regulatory approvals and clearances from local authorities.

  
  

Litigation Management

• 
  

  Manage legal disputes and litigation matters related to land, construction, and project activities.

  
  


• 
  

  Coordinate with external legal counsel for representation in courts, tribunals, and regulatory bodies.

  
  


• 
  

  Develop strategies for effective dispute resolution and risk mitigation.

  
  

Legal Risk Management

• 
  

  Identify and mitigate legal risks across real estate transactions and operations.

  
  


• 
  

  Provide strategic legal advice to senior management on complex legal matters.

  
  

Required Qualifications

• 
  

  LLB / LLM from a recognized university.

  
  


• 
  

  Membership with the Bar Council of India preferred.

  
  

Experience Required

• 
  

  15–20 years of legal experience, preferably within the real estate / construction sector.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong experience in land acquisition, title due diligence, and development agreements.

  
  


• 
  

  Deep understanding of RERA regulations and real estate legal frameworks.

  
  


• 
  

  Proven experience handling litigation and regulatory matters related to real estate projects.
