The Warehouse & Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing end-to-end warehouse operations, inventory management, and fulfilment processes for Chumbak’s retail and ecommerce business. This role ensures operational efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with established standards while supporting business growth and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
Manage day-to-day warehouse activities including inbound, outbound, picking, packing, dispatch, storage, and returns.
Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all warehouse functions.
Maintain warehouse infrastructure, safety protocols, and housekeeping standards.
Inventory Management
Oversee inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, audits, and reconciliations.
Monitor stock movement, bring visibility to discrepancies, damages, and slow-moving inventory.
Collaborate with merchandising and planning teams for demand forecasting and replenishment.
Order Fulfilment & Distribution
Manage the fulfilment of ecommerce and store orders within defined turnaround times (TAT).
Monitor order processing accuracy, packaging quality, and dispatch timelines.
Ensure effective coordination with logistics partners for timely and cost-efficient deliveries.
Logistics & Vendor Management
Manage relationships with courier partners, 3PL providers, and transportation vendors.
Plan and optimize logistics routes, freight costs, and delivery performance.
Track RTO (Return to Origin), delivery exceptions, and manage resolution of logistics issues.
Process Improvement & Reporting
Evaluate existing processes and implement improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Drive automation and support implementation of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERPs.
Prepare and share periodic reports on warehouse performance, stock status, order fulfilment, and key operational KPIs.
Team Leadership
Lead, train, and supervise warehouse staff to ensure productivity and compliance.
Conduct performance evaluations and set KRAs for the warehouse and operations team.
Foster a culture of safety, discipline, and continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of warehouse operations, logistics management, and inventory control.
Experience in Fragile items is must.
Experience with WMS/ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Unicommerce, Vinculum).
Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
Effective team management, communication, and leadership capabilities.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
5–8 years of relevant experience in warehouse or operations management, preferably in retail, lifestyle, FMCG, or home & décor.
Experience managing both ecommerce and offline retail operations is an advantage.
