RPG Developer

Insight Global is looking for talented RPG Developers to join our growing team in support of a large retail client. The qualified candidate will have the following responsibilities:

• Develop software components utilizing using RPGIV, RPG Free, DB2/SQL and RPG/ILE programming.
• Work with Development Team Lead on design and analysis of software, including supporting documentation.
• Perform testing/Troubleshooting on developed applications
• As required, work with user community during development and testing phases
• Adhere to internal software development standards and change management procedures
• Experience creating/maintaining service programs, stored procedures and SQL views.
• Sound knowledge on troubleshooting real-time job failures.
• Basic understanding of DDM connections and communication between multiple AS400 partitions.
• Knowledge of iSeries API's, Data queues, User queues, multithreading, Journaling and IBM iSeries file systems.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks as well as work well under pressure to meet project deadlines.
• Conduct code reviews for the deliverables prepared by other team members.

Qualifications:

• Good understanding of structured programming concepts and methodologies
• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or other related degree
• 8+ years’ experience in application development
• Proactive and entrepreneurial, but able to operate effectively in a team
• Confident and self-assured, able to adapt to an environment that is different than where he/she came from
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to learn new technologies and concepts quickly

Skills:

• RPG III/IV, RPG FREE, ILE, CL, DDS, SEU, SDA, RLU, SUBFILES, SQLRPG, IBM-SQL
• DFU, HAWKEYE
• ARCAD for IBM (Nice to have)
• knowledge of XML
• would be good to have basic knowledge of IP (Island Pacific Merchandising system) and Manhattan PKMS, Lawson Financials

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
