Job Description - Sponsorship Sales (Consultant)

BookMyShow is the leading platform & promoter for Live events and IP’s in India. Over the years the company has been instrumental in promoting/co-promoting some of the biggest and the best IP’s across live music, theatre, family entertainment shows, festivals and more. The U2 Joshua Tree tour, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, Bryan Adams, Aladdin, Mughal e Azam, Cirque du Soleil, Sunburn, Elrow, Grub Fest … would be some, to name a few.

To deliver the scale and quality of events above, driving revenues becomes key. One of the two principal revenue streams for all commercial events/IP’s is ‘Sponsorship’. Driving this revenue stream requires a skill set, temperament, networks, relationships and a passion for selling/closing a deal. A key to making a success of this job would be to have a passion for live entertainment, an appreciation of brands and their marketing needs, an understanding of the digital and media landscape and a fire in the belly to put it all together and make a deal. 

 

Your Goals

  1. Owning and driving a sponsorship sales/revenue target for large format live entertainment individual shows and long term properties
  2. Building data & intelligence to better understand the market – categories that are spending, categories that are activation focused, upcoming brand launches/re-launches, budget planning timelines across marketer
  3. Maintaining relationships and contacts across brand categories with key account holders within each brand
  4. Strong agency orientation – focus on servicing the deal, over-delivering on commitments to build long term partnerships of trust
  5. Create and develop assets for sponsorship starting with a tier-wise marketing stack and base sponsorship deck for every IP/event being explored by the live entertainment team
  6. Brand-wise ideation and preparing sponsor offerings
  7. Identifying potential strategic partners for IP’s across categories.
  8. Understand the sales cycle, decision makers and influencers in the process (both at the client & agency end) and take a solution-oriented approach to address brand objectives via the event
  9. An appreciation of brands - their marketing needs, activation platforms, their valuation metrics/criteria.
  10. Understand IP’s & Events and the commerce behind them. Work with the BD leads to build compelling pitch decks
  11. Ability to understand media assets available, their values to value and pitch a deal
  12. Work with stakeholders (internally and externally) to build new assets to amplify deliveries and deal values 
  13. Sniff-out opportunities, have a clear strategy & a flawless execution plan to drive a win-win proposition to get to a quick deal closure - a hunter at first

 

Your SkillSet

  1. Energetic, young, self starter and leader who has proven credentials in sales - preferably sponsorship of IP’s/Events, TV properties or media sales.
  2. Have deep networks and access to clients within the marketing and agency world. He/she would need to share tangible examples of these networks, pitches made and deals successfully closed!
  3. Work with a cross functional team (IP lead & team, production, product & design, marketing …) within BookMyShow & external stakeholders to ensure he/she has all the ammunition it takes to make a pitch, maximize deliverables & close a deal.  
  4. Will have to operate independently and have a start-up/sleeves rolled up mindset and attitude.

 

Your Experience & Qualifications

  1. 6+ years experienced candidate have a proven track in sales as stated above.
  2. A commercially astute and customer-focused individual, with a solid sales track record and a proven ability to foster strong business relationships.
