Job Designation: Research Intern

Job Location: New Delhi
Reporting to: Programme Associate
Duration: 3 months (Extended to 6 months on
based of performance)
The intern will contribute to ongoing research projects
focused on industrial emissions, policy instruments, and clean technology
transitions. This will include estimating emissions from various industrial
sectors, conducting technical and cost-benefit assessments of different types
of boilers, and analysing the existing industrial policy and institutional
frameworks at both regional and national levels. The role demands strong
analytical skills, policy writing capabilities, and a foundational
understanding of industrial systems and pollution control technologies.
· Conduct
literature reviews on environmental regulations, emissions monitoring, and
industrial decarbonisation strategies.
· Analyse
data from secondary sources (government portals, policy databases, industry
submissions) to support policy recommendations.
· Assist in
interpreting data from continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS), and
assessing the effectiveness of regulatory interventions.
· Draft
background notes, memos, and analytical summaries for internal and external
use.
· Work
closely with researchers to understand technical concepts (e.g., boiler
efficiency, emission factors, abatement technologies) and translate them into
clear, accessible insights.
· Support
development of policy briefs, blogs, and reports by synthesising technical
findings and aligning them with policy context.
· Track
regulatory developments across states and sectors relevant to industrial
pollution.
· Prepare
presentations and visual material for internal discussions and external
engagements.
· Support
organisation of stakeholder meetings, including background research and
documentation.
· Maintain
communication records and follow-up notes from consultations.
Pursuing or recently completed Bachelor’s/Master’s in:
· Public
Policy / Environmental Studies / Economics, or
· Engineering
disciplines (Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical, Instrumentation) with
demonstrated interest in public policy.
· Strong
writing and analytical skills; ability to produce policy-relevant outputs.
· Basic
understanding of industrial emissions, environmental regulations, and clean
technology.
· Comfort
with handling technical content (e.g., emission norms, abatement systems).
· Familiarity
with MS Excel, Google Workspace; knowledge of R/Python is a plus.
· Ability to
work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
· Willingness
to travel for field visits and stakeholder interviews (if needed).
