Job Description - Locum Doctor- 1 month contract

Location: In Clinic- Community Hospital & Nursing Home, Ennis Co.Clare
Contract Type: Short term contract for services


Term: 1 month 


Salary: €80 per hour


Hours per week: Minimum 18 hours per week


Days: 5 days per week 


Software: Digicare & Epicare


Training: All training will be paid at €50 per hour

Role Description



  1. In Clinic: Community Hospital and Nursing Home, Ennis


Key Responsibilities


In-Clinic: Community Hospital and Nursing Home Services – Ennis Co. Clare  


Patient Care and Management



  • Conduct regular ward rounds to assess progress and update care plans.

  • Perform comprehensive medical assessments for new admissions.

  • Review and manage treatment plans, ensuring alignment with rehabilitation goals.

  • Oversee medication management, including prescribing, adjusting, and monitoring.

  • Address acute medical issues and provide immediate care when required.


Rehabilitation Focus



  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to create individualised rehabilitation plans.

  • Support patients in achieving mobility, independence, and recovery goals.

  • Monitor progress toward rehabilitation milestones and adjust plans as needed.


Coordination with Nursing and Allied Health Staff



  • Participate in MDT meetings to discuss patient care and progress.

  • Provide guidance on medical aspects of care to nurses and allied health professionals.

  • Ensure clear communication of care plans, medications, and any changes in patient status.


Documentation and Reporting



  • Maintain accurate patient records using Digicare and EpicCare software.

  • Document clinical decisions, treatment plans, and rehabilitation outcomes.

  • Generate reports on patient outcomes and progress for stakeholders.

  • Ensure all data complies with data protection policies.


Family and Patient Engagement



  • Communicate care plans and address concerns with patients and families.

  • Provide education on health conditions, rehabilitation goals, and lifestyle modifications.


Compliance and Quality Assurance



  • Adhere to clinical guidelines, protocols, and ethical standards aligned with Limerick University Hospital guidance.

  • Participate in audits and quality assurance initiatives.

  • Stay informed on best practices in rehabilitation and geriatric care.


Support Services Coordination



  • Liaise with external specialists and ensure continuity of care.

  • Facilitate referrals for specialised treatments or diagnostics.


Emergency Response



  • Provide immediate medical attention during emergencies.

  • Coordinate transfers to acute care facilities as needed.


Education and Training



  • Support nursing and allied health staff on rehabilitation care.


Participate in training sessions for software systems and patient care enhancements






    Essential Requirements:





    Qualifications & Registration:





    • Fully qualified Doctor

    • Full Irish driving licence and own transport

    • Full registration with the Medical Council

    • Eligible to practice medicine in Ireland

    • Current professional indemnity cover



    Experience:





    • Experience in general practice or primary care

    • Strong background in preventative medicine and health screening

    • Experience conducting comprehensive medical examinations





    Skills & Competencies:





    • Excellent clinical and diagnostic skills

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    • Patient-focused and preventative care approach

    • High standard of clinical documentation and reporting

    • Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team

    • Professional, empathetic, and discreet manner





    Desirable:





    • Experience in a private healthcare setting

    • Interest or additional training in lifestyle or preventative medicine

    • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems
