IT Test Analyst

What is the opportunity? The position is a test analyst role working with a team of testing analysts, developers, business analysts and product specialists. The primary responsibility for the successful candidate will be to drive out the testing process through the development and execution of manual / automated test scenarios. The analyst will help prioritise defects/issues to be fixed, using an understanding of the business requirements and the needs of the customer. The transformation programme is one of our key enablers for delivering our New Ireland Company strategy. There are a number of projects being delivered with key strategic objectives across new and existing platforms. In this role, you will:

• Resource proposed must have the equivalent of 3-5 years' experience as a Test Analyst / Business Subject Expert in L/400(AS400)
• IT related 3rd level qualification (e.g. computer science degree or similar)
• Broad knowledge and understanding of Life and Pensions industry processes
• Identify and analyse opportunities for test automation
• Implement automation frameworks and approaches
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills - with a particular strength in written communications
• Takes personal responsibility for accuracy and quality
• Responsible for the creation of test cases using own in-depth technical analysis of both functional and non-functional specifications (such as reliability, efficiency, usability, maintainability and portability)
• Creates traceability records from test cases back to requirements
• Manages/produces test scripts, materials and regression test packs to test new and amended software or services
• Specifies requirements for environment, data, resources and tools
• Establish and evolve formal QA processes, ensuring that the team is using industry-accepted best practices
• Oversee all aspects of quality assurance including establishing metrics, applying industry best practices, and developing new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are met
• Interprets, executes and documents complex test scripts using agreed methods and standards
• Records and analyses actions and results and maintains a defect register
• Reviews test results and modifies test, if necessary
• Provides reports on progress, anomalies, risks and issues associated with the overall project
• Thorough understanding of the software development life cycle, and different software development methodologies and frameworks
• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision, and providing supervision, direction and support to other members of the team
• Excellent continuous improvement experience, including best principles
• Interest and curiosity in learning new systems and skills
• Strong business acumen and customer focus

• Certifications in application delivery or modern software development and quality practices such as Agile, Product Management, and Quality Assurance are desired
• Broad understanding of the full software development lifecycle
• Self-starter and willing to take initiative in problem identification and solutions provision using a systematic and organised approach to their work
• Very Strong team player with focus on integrity and ethics

Qualifications in any of the following will help you stand out but is not necesarry in order to apply for this role:

• IT qualifications
• A sound knowledge of financial services sector
• Previous experience as a test automation engineer would be advantage
• Experience delivering to tight project timescales
• ISEB qualification/certification in a formal Test or Quality methodology is desirable
