Job Title : Deputy Chief Financial Officer and Director of Financial Services Pay Scale : Senior Administrative 1

DEPUTY CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER AND DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL SERVICES

  • Trinity’s Financial Services Division (FSD) is a fast-paced and dynamic business unit that manages the financial affairs of the University (budget of c.€500m). We have a requirement for a senior finance professional to work with us in guiding the financial future of the University.
  • The Deputy Chief Financial Officer will manage all operational activity of the finance function, supporting the CFO in delivering on Trinity’s strategic goals and objectives.

About the role:

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Deputy Chief Financial Officer is a varied and challenging role where a high level of financial management experience, skill and competency is a prerequisite. The Deputy contributes to the University’s strategic decision-making process, through the provision of financial insight, performance management and business analytics.

They will have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, will be people-centred and will possess a strategic and innovative approach to their role, excelling in organisational leadership, influencing people outside the sphere of normal management.

As Deputy Chief Financial Officer, you will:

  • Support the CFO in delivering on the University’s strategic goals and objectives, acting in her place as required and engaging in decision making at executive level.
  • Manage a high functioning finance division – delivering cost effectiveness, managing compliance and risk.
  • Provide assurance to the University’s Board and relevant stakeholders on the effective and sustainable management of the University’s financial resources.
  • Lead, inspire and manage a large team, providing guidance through periods of change and optimising performance.
To be successful in this role you will need:
  • A professional accounting qualification, with membership of a recognised accounting body
  • A strong track record of people leadership and management experience in a fast-paced and diverse financial environment
  • Substantial experience of financial management, reporting and associated oversight, working in an environment requiring the highest standards
  • Possess a strategic and innovative approach to your role, with demonstrable organisational and change management skills
  • Superior negotiation skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively at senior levels.
Salary: This appointment will be made on the Senior Administrative 1 salary scale (currently €134,286-€169,752) per annum) in line with current Government pay policy

Post status: Permanent Contract
