Job Description - HR Operations Administrator

Gas Networks Ireland operates and maintains Ireland’s €2.7bn, 14,664km national gas network, which is considered one of the safest and most modern renewables-ready gas networks in the world.

Over 720,000 Irish homes and businesses trust Ireland’s gas network to provide efficient and reliable energy to meet their heating, cooking, manufacturing and transport needs.

The gas network is the cornerstone of Ireland’s energy system, securely supplying more than 30% of Ireland’s total energy, including 40% of all heating and almost 50% of the country’s electricity generation.

By working to replace natural gas with renewable gases, such as biomethane and green hydrogen, and complementing intermittent renewable electricity, Gas Networks Ireland is supporting Ireland’s journey to a cleaner energy future.

The Role:  

The HR Operations Administrator is responsible for overseeing the provision of all HR Administration services to support the business.

Reporting into the People Transactions Services Lead, the HR Operations Administrator will also have responsibility for Pensions administration, managing official employee correspondence, ensuring the maintenance all employee personnel records adhere to the Data Protection legislation and ensuring application of Gas Networks Ireland HR policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Oversee the provision of HR administrative and transactional services for Gas Networks Ireland, including:
  • Manage support for recruitment / on boarding / exit
  • Support payroll & pensions administration
  • Performance management admin
  • Compensation and Benefits admin
  • Ensure that a high quality, responsive, and effective HR transactional and administrative support service to the wider organisation.
  • Manage the processing and maintenance of all electronic and physical employee personnel records in accordance with Data protection legislation.
  • Manage the issuing of relevant specific correspondence to employees, e.g. letters, codes of conduct acceptance etc. 
  • Monitor SLA's and KPI’s for HR and communicate these to People Transaction Services Lead.
  • Provision of Pensions administration services for Gas Networks Ireland’s pension schemes (Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution) including;
  • Running weekly and fortnightly scheduled reports in respect of leavers and joiners.
  • Updating MyWork and Core Payroll systems in respect of changes to pensioners, joiners, leavers, contribution rates, bank account details, addresses etc.
  • Manage the maintenance of accurate employee database and organisational structures
  • Work with the People Transaction Services Lead to identify areas for improvement in services provided.
  • Ensures consistent application of company HR policies.
  • Ensure all contact enquiries are dealt with effectively.
  • Develop and promote effective working relationships with customers.
  • Lead staff and adopt a ‘one team’ culture.
  • Perform other duties as required from time to time.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:  

  • Relevant third level qualification or equivalent
  • Member of the CIPD is desirable
  • 3-5 years’ relevant experience with at least 3 years in HR
  • Previous experience working in a utility desirable
  • Experience with identifying improvement opportunities, generating ideas and implementing solutions
  • Proven ability to create and develop good working relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals, coupled with the ability to gain commitment from others
  • Ability to translate strategic priorities into operational reality, demonstrating strong decision-making skills
  • Driver of high standards for individual, team and organisational accomplishment and delivering desired results
  • Ability to develop relationships to accomplish team goals coupled with dealing effectively with differences of opinion and conflict management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to prioritise tasks, work with schedules, manage resources while remaining focused on team goals
