Slaintecare Logic is a unique, fully funded research and development company in the Healthcare sector based in the Gold Coast, QLD. We develop and implement next-generation hospital analytics solutions in partnership with health services and academic institutions.

Our flagship platform SystemView is live in >150 hospitals across five Jurisdictions, and we are comprised of 90 staff who are located across Australia, the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the Philippines.

SystemView is new-to-the-world analytics platform that features automated, high-frequency data flows and novel algorithms and visualisations to provide clinical and executive leaders previously unobtainable insights and actionable information; ultimately to support better patient outcomes.

About the role

You will be joining a multi-talented and diverse team of data engineers with responsibilities including:

  • Assist design, implement, and maintain the ETL pipeline across a range of technologies from source systems for both the new and existing products.
  • Lead squad and take accountability for and delivering projects as agreed in the road map.
  • Work to understand end-user requirements, hospital processes and provide optimal solutions.
  • Rapidly absorbs new information and applies it effectively. Maintains an awareness of developing practices and their application and takes responsibility for driving own development.
  • Help the development of new components within the SystemView platform and other Healthcare Logic products according to the coding and UI standards.
  • Actively contribute to discussions of develop new analyses and enhancements of current analyses and features both with the Healthcare logic team as well as clinical and executive leaders and staff across various hospitals.
  • Collaborate with other members of the product team to develop automated data flows and ETL processes to support new analyses and optimize current data flows as required.
  • Help review peer's code and mentor upskill all levels of data engineers.
  • Assist in automation and data quality projects.
  • Supervises individuals and teams. Allocates routine tasks and/or project work.
  • Advises on required outcomes for learning or development, from knowledge of skills frameworks and organisational development needs
  • Perform unit testing, smoke testing, SIT and UAT and document the results.
  • Document new specifications, logic, data flows and ETLs.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of technologies and stay abreast of current industry trends and emerging technologies and willing to go beyond your comfort zone.
  • Assist in database administration duties, triage and troubleshooting of platform incident and outages.
  • Actively engage in production support.
  • Communicates fluently, orally and in writing, and can present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences, both internally and on the client-side.

Essential skills:

These skills and experience will help get you onto the shortlist:

  • 5+ years' experience working intimately with data in the context of application development, data warehousing, migration, or data analysis
  • A high-level of motivation and demonstrable ability to solve complex problems and deliver solutions under tight timelines
  • Demonstrated experience with SQL Server Integration Services or other ETL tools
  • Experience in SQL Server 2016+
  • Experience with Healthcare data preferred but not essential
  • Experience with AWS or Azure services desired
  • Experience writing automated tests for data pipelines
  • A sense of fun – we like to have it and aren’t afraid to say so!

Good to have skills:

  • Demonstrated expertise with one or more database engines, including MySQL, Postgres, MS SQL, etc.
  • Experience in building Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines
  • Be a critical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Be passionate about delivering high quality work
  • Prior experience with application or web development working in fast-paced agile and exposure to modern technology, frameworks, and tools such as Scrum, Test Driven Development, Redgate and CI/CD are also of interest
  • Development, React, Redgate, NodeJS, CI/CD and Docker are also of interest
