Job Description - Trainee Accountant- Cork

CareChoice is one of Ireland's leading residential homes for the older person. We provide dedicated care and a safe and welcoming home for all our Residents. Our ethos is to create a home from home for our clients, where they can live life to the full with support and respect, whilst enjoying building relationships with all our staff.

We are currently seeking an experienced Trainee Accountant who will contribute to delivering high standards of support to our homes across the country.

The role will be primarily based in Little Island, Cork with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home. 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Be a part qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA,CPA, CIMA) with at least a years of industry experience
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with people and to convert data into information, including professional presentation of information;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills - a naturally enquiring approach;
  • Demonstrate an ability to deliver in a fast-paced work environment and to strive for excellence;
  • Possess energy and a positive attitude with a desire to drive constant improvement and change;
  • Have the ability to cut through ambiguity, to listen, challenge and innovate;
  • Be self-motivated, curious and flexible, a self-starter who works well both individually and as part of a team;
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Hold and maintain a clean driving licence. Will involve travel. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation and improvement of monthly management accounts including KPIs on a timely basis for a growing number of operational and development companies. 
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations to Trial balance stage.
  • Analyse and reconcile revenue to expected outcomes.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with ongoing projects to improve and automate processes to offer accurate timely information to all of our residents and their families.
  • Carry out internal audits to ensure the security of our resident's belongings and finances.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior management as required.
  • Obtain an in-depth knowledge of the funding model for the Nursing Home industry including the Fair Deal Scheme. Full training will be provided.
  • Assist with providing information to external auditors.
  • Liaise with outside bodies such as HSE, solicitors and residents' families to improve cash collection.
  • Develop a customer-oriented culture, ensuring that the Finance team supports and prioritise the needs of the front-line business including building relationships with administrators and management in our homes.
  • Provide cover for finance team colleagues.
  • Ensure the confidentially of all information in particular in relation to our residents.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules, regulations and guidelines in place within the Carechoice Group and regulations set by outside bodies such as HIQA.

 

This is a very exciting opportunity for an ambitious self starter to work with a close team of 11 Finance Team members, 4 of whom are qualified accountants with many years of experience in the industry. And also to liaise with a wider team of administrators and management based in our homes throughout Leinster and Munster. 

 

The role is varied and interesting with exposure to all areas of finance.

 

Full one to one training and mentorship will be provided by the Finance Manager on an ongoing basis with opportunities to progress and grow with the company.
