Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Civil, Structural & Architectural (CSA) Design Manager to join its design team in Dublin, Ireland. Our team is responsible for achieving a world class uptime for our customers and drive to develop a fleet of buildings that emphasize security, safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness, while finding new ways to meet AWS’s growing demand. As a CSA Design Manager at AWS, you will lead designs for AWS DCs in our Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) geography and impact other projects around the world. As a DC CSA Design Manager, you will be part of a highly creative and efficient design team comprised of Architects, Engineers, and Designers tasked with solving problems and challenging the status quo. As a subject matter expert, you will have a direct impact on the design of prototypical DC facilities, provide technical guidance, solve large scale implementation issues, and be responsible for CSA design requirements. Key job responsibilities
• Communicate conceptual designs and create/maintain project documentation before, during, and after construction; Develop & maintain Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for CSA elements;
• Creating and tracking metrics related to cost, quality and duration of design as well as collecting data from construction and commissioning teams as designs are implemented. Establishing capital project design budgets and contributing to complex business cases for existing region and new region deployment. Collaborating with AWS finance teams to secure funding for projects;
• Working in partnership with AWS Engineering leads to schedule engineering resources and influence design changes based on internal customer needs;
• Partnering with internal customers to establish project scope, schedule and deliverables. Create, review, and release design RFPs. Manage our external design consultants through the design and construction process. Coordinate with internal and external Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, and Cabling design engineers;
• Think outside of the box to find innovative solutions prior to and during the construction process to reduce costs without negative impacts on quality or reliability. Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants. Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%; About the team

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
The CSA Design Manager is expected to be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) is their chosen field while being experienced across all CSA disciplines;
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering from an accredited school
• 5 years working experience with 3 years of experience in design of mission critical facilities inclusive of working experience with MEP engineering consultancies
• Expertise in creating, reviewing and approving architectural RFP, bids, designs and documentation. Ability to develop new concepts through exploration, design, testing and deployment
• Define building system-level architecture, document performance and equipment requirements, communicate conceptual designs, and create/maintain project documentation before, during and after construction
