Location:High Street – Dublin 8           
Remuneration:         Starting salary €50,120 to €54,961*
*depending on relevant experience & qualifications

Health Services Staffs Credit Union (HSSCU) continues to grow and develop across our nationwide common bond. To assist with this growth for our members we now have a 2 brand-new role within our Lending Team.The primary role of the team is to deal with the underwriting, processing and approval / referral of loan applications received from members.  The team approves the majority of all applications.  Staff from the team constitute the Combined Authority and decide on applications as required by policy.  The team also provides support to the Credit Committee and Board of Directors in relation to loan applications and lending related issues .

The 1st of the new roles, the Assistant Lending Manager Operations, will have a variety of duties within the Lending Team.  They will be required to provide support to members of the team, both administrative and technical, and require cross functional knowledge and supporting qualifications to carry out team duties.   The contracted hours for this post are 35 hours Monday to Friday, with some requirements to attend meetings outside of these hours.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Assess credit applications including personal, business loan applications and overdraft applications and renewals.
  • Approving loan applications within approval authorities / policy
  • Contacting members relating to ongoing applications / decision outcomes
  • Preparing and presenting complex loan applications to the Lending Team Manager / Credit Committee
  • Oversee the daily resourcing of team operations.
  • Oversee the work of members of the Operations Team.  
  • Along with other Assistant Managers in team, manage staffing resources.  
  • Manage, on a daily basis, the processing of loan applications, with special attention to allocating categories of loans to staff to ensure a timely processing of all loan types.
  • Perform other duties assigned to other Assistant Managers in Lending Team, if required. 
  • Deputise for the Lending Team Manager in their absence, if required.
    • Making appropriate decisions and taking appropriate actions to support the smooth running of the Lending Team. 
    • Communicating any such decisions / actions to Lending Team staff.
  • Contributing to team discussions relating to policy formation.
  • Assisting with / participating on Board Committees, in particular, but not limited to; the Credit Committee, if required.
  • Any other related duties, which may be requested by the Lending Manager or by the Board of Directors via the Senior Management Team from time to time.
  • Adherence to guidelines and policies of the HSSCU
  • Administrative duties associated with the work of the team.
  • Identify the need for training either within the team or throughout the wider organisation.
  • To prioritise all tasks required to be completed according to their urgency.
  • Attending Committee / Board Meetings and other meetings as required
  • Ensure that appropriate controls are maintained on the work and that the Lending Manager is kept informed, particularly where there is deviation from the  agreed time frames or policies.
  • To support, promote and actively participate in sustainable energy, water and waste initiatives to create a more sustainable, low carbon and efficient Credit Union.
  • Any other duties that may be required
  • Providing leadership, supervision, direction and motivation to the Lending team
  • Fostering an effective, productive team, through ongoing, regular and open two-way communication with team members
  • Managing the ongoing performance management cycle under your supervision including:
    • Translating functional objectives into performance criteria for individual members of the staff
    • Assessing members of staff against agreed performance objectives on a regular basis,
    • Providing timely and constructive feedback to staff members on their performance on an ongoing basis.
    • Assisting in the creation of development plans for staff in the team. 
    • Reporting regularly to the Lending Manager on team performance and operational activities, including recommendations or requests for change/assistance.
  • Ensure all staff under your supervision are adequately trained to carry out their duties effectively and that they adhere to HSSCU policies and procedures.
  • Communicate and address any concerns in relation to staff to the Lending manager and/or HR Manager.
  • To manage the annual leave and any other leaves of the team to ensure that the team is sufficiently staffed and to highlight in a timely manner any expected staffing level deficiency identified if required.  
  • Provide mentoring & coaching to peers, line reports and new staff

Qualifications and Experience 

  1. Must hold at a minimum of a QFA, CUA or equivalent that also satisfies the Minimum Competency Qualification in line with the requirements of the Central Bank of Irelands Minimum Competency Code
  2. Meet & Satisfy Fitness & Probity requirements
  3. A relevant third level or professional qualification an advantage
  4. Comprehensive knowledge with 3 years’ relevant lending experience
  5. Business Lending, Mortgage or overdrafts experience is an advantage.
