Job Description - HR Business Partner

Flogas Ireland is a subsidiary of DCC plc, and part of their Energy division, with a long established and successful business that operates in both ROI and NI. It has two principal income streams with a well-established LPG sector and a more recent Natural Gas & Electricity business that has grown from scratch in the last 14 years to become the 5th largest provider of energy on the island of Ireland, with a rapidly growing customer base. Flogas currently employs more than 500 staff across seven different locations.

Flogas Ireland, was established in 1978 and is a leading supplier of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Natural Gas & Electricity across the island of Ireland, servicing a diverse range of market sectors and applications including the industrial, commercial, domestic, catering, agricultural and automotive markets.

About the role

We currently have an opportunity for a HR Business Partner who will be the HR representative on an ERP project for a 2-year period. The role will partner with the project management team to provide operational HR support to ensure the delivery of the project. The successful candidate will also partner with senior leaders and key stakeholders to understand business goals and develop HR strategies that support organisational objectives. In addition, you will also engage and collaborate with the HR team to deliver the Flogas HR strategy and implementation of a variety of group HR Projects .

This role will operate in a hybrid capacity from our office location in Drogheda, Co Louth. You can expect to be based onsite two/three days per week with travel to other Flogas locations as required.

Main areas of responsibility:

Understand the Project Scope:

  • Familiarise yourself with the ERP project's goals, timeline, and key deliverables.
  • Identify the specific HR-related aspects that need attention during the project, including but not limited to project staff resourcing, employee wellbeing, employee incentive & recognition scheme as well as growth, learning and development of project members.

Collaborate with Project Management:

  • Regularly engage with the project management team.
  • Ensure alignment between HR processes and project milestones.
  • Address any HR-related challenges or risks promptly.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees on employee relations issues, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.

Proactive Communication:

  • Be proactive in sharing updates, challenges, and progress within the project and Flogas Ireland group.
  • Collaborate with other departments (such as IT, Finance, and Operations) to ensure smooth project execution.

HR Strategy Alignment:

  • Work closely with the HR team to understand the existing HR strategy.
  • Align the ERP project's HR activities with the overall HR strategy.
  • Consider how the project impacts recruitment, training, performance management, and employee engagement.

Change Management:

  • Partner with Transformation and Change Manager to implement process changes.
  • Support employees through these changes by providing clear communication, training, and addressing concerns.

Monitor Metrics:

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) related to HR processes affected by the ERP project.
  • Regularly track and analyse these metrics to assess progress and identify areas for improvement.

Communication:

  • Effective communication, adaptability, and a strategic mindset will be crucial in this role.

Group HR Projects:

  • An opportunity to work on a wide range of HR initiatives and projects alongside the wider HR Team. Projects to include, employee engagement, mental health & wellbeing, Employee, succession planning, inclusion & diversity

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a HR Advisor / BP role, with a particular focus on in-house recruitment and on-boarding, employee engagement
  • Utilisation and implementation of HR systems advantageous 

Role specific (technical) knowledge / skills:

  • This role would suit a person who is a dynamic and collaborative team player, energetic and passionate with a positive can-do attitude with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and willing to take on challenges and responsibilities in a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and know when to escalate.
  • Confident at interacting with all employee levels and possess a high degree of integrity and discretion.
  • Strong organisational, influential and communication skills and the ability to prioritise work efficiently and effectively with an ability to manage multiple workstreams at one time.
  • Be results focussed, determined and self-motivated.
  • Proficiency in various People areas including Talent Development, Succession Planning, Employee Relations, Employee Engagement, Talent Acquisition, Diversity and Inclusion, and Change Management.
  • Have a good knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies, generating ideas and implementing solutions.

Education

  • Relevant HR qualification to a degree level
  • CIPD membership desirable
  • Strong knowledge of employment law for ROI and/or NI
