The Role

Unijobs on behalf of our client Maynooth University have a requirement for an IT Test Analyst to work as part of the Information Systems' team in IT Services. The contract is 12 Months initially working 35 hours per week the successful candidate will be employed as an agency employee and will accrue 27 days annual leave the salary for this role will be based on the level of exsperience. The role is based Maynooth, Co Kildare.

The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in the Information Systems team across a wide portfolio of Business Systems and Projects. The IT Test Engineer will collaborate with the wider IT Services Team and directly with business customers in key areas such as Admissions, Registry, Finance and Human Resources. Reporting to the Information Systems Manager, the IT Test Engineer will have access to guidance from a Senior Test Lead and on projects will work within a project management methodology guided by the teams Project Manager.

Summary of the Role:

The IT Test Engineer will be responsible for evaluating the functional delivery and change impact of implementations, upgrades, initiatives and projects and designing test protocols and scripts to effectively test and validate the change being implemented. The IT Test Engineer will be responsible for the coordination and execution of, in particular, UAT milestones in conjunction with the IS Team, Vendors and business users, and the tracking and resolution of defects.

The IT Test Engineer will be responsible for completing all testing procedures, suggesting performance changes, and preparing performance reports for the delivery team and stakeholders. To ensure success the IT Test Engineer, should have expert knowledge of software development life cycle and systems/module implementation, a good eye for detail, and be skilled in software troubleshooting.

Principal Duties

• Plan and coordinate testing cycles and maintain up to date test cases after the desired changes have been made.
• Work as part of a multiskilled team in regard to the test preparation, execution, data and tool usage.
• Ensure the efficient resolution of issues by tracking and detecting any concerns prior to the resolution process.
• Manage the retesting of defects and track accordingly.
• Interact with customers, resolving any queries and escalate further when necessary.
• Produce testing and bug resolution metrics reporting.

Requirements

• ISTQB Certified Tester - Foundation Level.
• Experience in specification analysis, test case design, testing execution and defect reporting.
• Knowledge of JIRA or similar a distinct advantage.
• Knowledge of TestRail or similar a distinct advantage.
• Knowledge of ITSM, Ivanti, RT, Zendesk, etc or similar a distinct advantage.
• Strong experience in business systems testing would be a significant advantage.
• 2 to 3 years' experience in testing large scale projects essential.
• Deep understanding of all test cycles such as unit testing, system integration testing, user acceptance testing, stress/performance testing, regression testing.
• A strong technical aptitude with ability to learn new technologies quickly.
• Strong Documentation skills. Of particular advantage would be experience in writing User requirement Specifications (URS), Functional Design Specification (FDS) Customer Training Manuals (CTM).
• Manual Testing (test scripts, test cases, using collaborative technologies).

The ideal contractor will have:

• Excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy working in a team-based environment.
• A Degree in Information Technology or related discipline or 3+ years relevant experience.
• Experience of working with Education, HR or Finance functions, in large organisations, and ideally in a public sector environment would be an advantage.
• Ability to work on their own whilst contributing to the larger IT function.
• Evidence of multi-tasking within a delivery-focused environment.
• Able to hit the ground running, taking responsibilities over daily tasks.
