Role: Senior Lawyer, Treasury Legal Services Team

Location: Molesworth Street, Dublin 2 with hybrid working in line with organisational arrangements (Currently 2 days per week in the office)

About the Role:

We are inviting applications for a Senior Lawyer role in Treasury Legal Services team, which is part of AIB Group’s Legal & Corporate Governance function. This role is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic area supporting AIB Group’s Treasury activities which include trading activities (FX, derivatives, and securities financing), funding and liquidity requirements including debt issuance and its customer treasury products and services.

The role will involve advisory and transactional work, leading/ driving and participating in projects, requires good knowledge of Treasury business and activities, leadership, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to be adaptable and operate in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Contribute to strategic direction of the activities of the Treasury Legal Team.
• Represent Treasury Legal Services at senior business and governance fora.
• Contribute to the running of Legal & Corporate Governance unit as a senior stakeholder within the unit.
• Provide legal support and advice in respect of AIB’s treasury trading activities (repos, securities lending, bonds, derivatives etc), from a transactional, regulatory and enforceability perspective.
• Review/draft templates and bespoke agreements and negotiate client and counterparty documentation.
• Lead the legal support for Treasury’s funding, structured and/or other transactions.
• Lead assessment of regulatory requirements and support regulatory, supervisory and audit engagements.
• Develop and enhance procedures and policies to improve operational efficiency and minimise legal risk.
• Identify and analyse legal risk, capital, and regulatory matters, raise and address issues with relevant business stakeholders and implement solutions to mitigate risk.
• Participate in strategic initiatives and projects, providing subject matter expertise and acting as lead legal advisor as required.

What you will bring:

• Solicitor qualified to practise in Ireland with minimum 8 years’ post qualification experience with financial markets, treasury or banking law experience.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate, coach, delegate effectively and prioritise tasks and achieve delivery of team results.
• Have a strong knowledge of legal, capital and risk considerations as they relate to the legal support for Treasury activities.
• Have knowledge of and experience in leading funding, structured and/or other transactions.
• Experience advising on and drafting/negotiating documentation for treasury trading and funding arrangements and/or other treasury products and services.
• Good knowledge of legal, regulatory and market practice developments in the domestic and international financial markets.
• Ability to lead and work as part of a team and to foster positive working relationships with colleagues across AIB Group.
• Results focused with the ability to drive outcomes and to manage competing priorities.
