Purpose of the Post:
The Occupational Therapy Clinical Specialist will be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of an evidenced based, service-user focused, quality Occupational Therapy Service, in child neuro-disability.
The Clinical Specialist OT will:
- Provide expert assessment and intervention in the field of Paediatric Neuro-Disability.
- Be responsible for the effective assessment, care planning and intervention to facilitate appropriate pathway management.
- Will take a lead role in the post-graduate education of Occupational Therapy colleagues and other professions. Impart knowledge and skills, guiding further knowledge acquisition and acting as a mentor and provide supervision.
- Serve as a leader in service development.
- Develop the service for children and young people with Neuro-Disability working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Ensuring pathways and processes are clear and defined for ease of navigation and to maximise demand and capacity of SLT provisions.
- Undertake relevant research/audit within and around Neuro-Disabilities as part of Children’s Disability Services, developing an advanced practice portfolio and implementing best practice in line with National Guideline and EBP.
- Develop and run interdisciplinary team (IDT) interventions and deliver training to parents/carers and relevant others.
