Our client in Dublin is currently seeking expressions of interest from Basic Grade Occupational Therapist   for a permanent full-time role. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to play an integral and active role in a friendly, dynamic and supportive Multidisciplinary Team to make a significant contribution in the area of rehabilitation.The employer offers a competitive package and the salary will be aligned to the HSE October 2021 Consolidated Pay Scale.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 
Clinical
 
· To be responsible for managing a caseload and for assessment, planning, and implementation of occupational therapy programmes for residents.
· To document all assessments, interventions and programmes in a timely manner and keep relevant staff informed of progress.
· To participate in the multi-disciplinary/healthcare team and work in co-operation and collaboration with team members.  
· To liaise and communicate effectively with family members, community teams and the wider community as appropriate.
· To ensure quality of care meets the standards as required by the relevant regulatory authority.
· To attend multi-disciplinary meetings and communicate progress.
· To demonstrate flexibility by assisting and supporting other members of the healthcare team in enhancing the well-being of patients.
· To be responsible for infection control as appropriate within the parameters of occupational therapy intervention.
· To be flexible, innovative and creative in meeting the resident’s needs.
 
Professional
 
· To effectively communicate with the Senior Occupational Therapist and liaise regularly regarding caseload, referrals and priorities.
· To participate in the development and evaluation of services as necessary, including day care and outreach programmes.
· To participate in the growth and development of the occupational therapy department.
· To engage in continuous professional development, keep up to date with development in occupational therapy and relevant matters and engage in research where appropriate. To ensure that professional occupational therapy standards are maintained in accordance with recognised standards and Codes of Ethics.
· To actively participate in clinical supervision and provide supervision as appropriate to other staff, students or volunteers within the occupational therapy department.
· To participate with and supervise occupational therapy students, including providing talks to occupational therapy schools on request.
· To participate fully in our mission and plans for development.
· To adhere to all policies, procedures, guidelines and legislation as required by our organizaation.
· To carry out other duties appropriate to the role as may be assigned by the Occupational Therapy Manager and Senior Occupational Therapist or designee from time to time.
· To be mindful of the charitable origins and Quaker Ethos of our Services at all times.
  
Administration:

 
 
· To comply with us and the Occupational Therapy Department’s policy and procedures.
· To participate in the day-to-day administration of the Occupational Therapy Department.
· To attend and participate in staff meetings.
· To participate in the control and ordering and tracking of relevant stock and equipment and to utilise the resources provided in an effective and economic manner, maintaining appropriate records as required.  
· To maintain strict confidentiality with regard to all matters concerning patients/residents, staff and business of the Centre. Information regarding patients/residents, staff or business of the centre may not be divulged or discussed except in the performance of normal duty. Records, documents or correspondence may never be left in such a manner that unauthorised persons can obtain access to them.

 
 
Safety, Health and Welfare:
 
The Basic Grade Occupational Therapist will be required to observe the following arrangements:

 

  • Attend fire lectures and drills periodically and observe fire orders.
  • Report all accidents/near misses within our organization in line with Health & Welfare legislation
  • Comply with all Safety Regulations and prevailing safety legislation.
  • Observe the no-smoking policy that applies within our buildings.
   We are not responsible in the event of the loss, damage or theft of personal property of the Occupational Therapist or any person.

 

Requirements

  • Be registered on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
  • Hold a degree in Occupational Therapy or an equivalent qualification and be eligible for membership with the AOTI.
  • Have three years full time (or an aggregate of three years) post qualification clinical experience.
  • Have established clinical experience in the area of mental health rehabilitation, serious and enduring mental health conditions or cognitive rehabilitation in area of ABI.
  • Energetic individual with solid clinical experience in working with a team of diverse clinicians and strong knowledge of the concepts and operation of Clinical Governance.
  • Strong ability to teach, manage, participate and play a key role in the practice education of student therapists and promote and engage in the teaching/training/support of others as appropriate.
  • Have good knowledge and experience of health, safety and other statutory regulations affecting a health care organization.

   Personal Skills

  • Responsible in approach and patient/resident friendly.
  • Should be able to lead and motivate a team.
