Job Description - Event Manager

The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) is Ireland’s first purpose-built, international conference venue, located on Dublin’s North Wall Quay. Since opening in September 2010, we have hosted over 2,100 events for a range of Irish and international clients and won 63 awards. Our aim is to offer our clients and visitors an unrivalled event experience as we continue to position Ireland on the world stage for international conferences and events.

To ensure we can provide exceptional service to all those who visit The CCD, we are currently seeking an Event Manager to join our Events team at The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) in a full-time permanent basis .

Key Objective

To manage and organize events, ensuring client expectations and financial targets for allocated events are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Central liaison point between client and other departments and responsible for monitoring quality of service delivery
  • Deliver events within package limitations and budget
  • Responsible for Event H&S in line with The CCD’s H&S SOP’s and appropriate H&S legislation and guidelines
  • Identify opportunities for selling additional services to maximise profit and co-ordinate opportunities across other departments in line with budget
  • Manage client satisfaction by identifying areas to add value to the client experience
  • Accurately record and disseminate event information through EBMS to clients and other departments
  • Responsible for monthly forecasting and actual cost submission for all allocated events
  • Financial responsibility for checking any internal and third-party costs are correct and for ensuring invoices are issued and any queries are resolved in line with The CCD procedures
  • Responsible for identifying areas for improvement in event and venue operational delivery
  • Responsible for managing the CCD Hosts function on individual events, including Host allocation and rostering
  • Responsible for collating relevant Health and Safety information (Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work) where appropriate
  • Compliance with all policies and SOPs of The CCD
  • Any other projects as requested by Head of Events

Duties and responsibilities will vary from time to time and the post holder will be expected to perform other such duties that are reasonably comparable; to adhere to Company health, safety and environmental policies; maintain a safe working environment and to ensure work activities are safe.

Person Specification

  • Minimum of 3 years event management experience
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Good numeracy
  • Team-player
  • Sales skills would be advantageous
  • Team leadership experience would be desirable
