Job Description - Food & Beverage Manager

The Bridge House Hotel, a busy and well-established 4-star family-run hotel, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Food & Beverage Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of our food service operations. As the Food & Beverage Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of guest satisfaction by delivering exceptional food and beverage experiences. This role requires strong leadership abilities, a keen attention to detail, and a passion for providing outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities:

Food Service Operations Management:

  • Plan, organize, and supervise all food service operations within the hotel, including restaurants, bars, room service, banquets, and catering.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining cleanliness, and promoting a safe working environment.
  • Monitor and control food and beverage costs, inventory levels, and quality standards to maximize profitability.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop menus, recipes, and innovative food concepts that meet guest expectations and adhere to the hotel's standards.

Team Management and Development:

  • Recruit, train, and motivate a skilled team of food service professionals, including waitstaff, bartenders, and support staff.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations to ensure high levels of productivity, professionalism, and guest satisfaction.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, open communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills, product knowledge, and service standards.

Guest Experience Enhancement:

  • Maintain a strong focus on customer service, ensuring that all guests receive prompt, friendly, and personalized attention.
  • Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and special requests in a professional and timely manner, aiming for swift resolution and complete guest satisfaction.
  • Regularly interact with guests to gather feedback, identify areas for improvement, and implement appropriate measures to exceed guest expectations.
  • Continuously monitor industry trends and competitor activities to introduce new concepts and enhance the overall guest experience.

Financial Management:

  • Prepare and manage annual budgets for food and beverage operations, monitoring expenses, and revenue streams to achieve financial targets.
  • Analyse financial reports, sales data, and cost-control measures to identify areas of improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the hotel's management team to develop pricing strategies, promotional activities, and revenue optimization initiatives.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in food service management, preferably in a similar upscale hotel environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage operations, including restaurant service, banquet functions, and catering services.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Exceptional customer service and problem-solving abilities with a guest-oriented mindset.
  • Sound financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost control, and revenue management.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in food handling and sanitation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and software used in the hospitality industry.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
