Fleet & Garage Manager

We're in search of a Fleet Garage Manager to join a large Irish organisation. The ideal candidate will be ensure smooth, efficient, and safe operation of the organisations’ fleet. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and contribute to the specification and upkeep of vehicles, meeting all safety and operational standards.
• Oversee service and maintenance resources, (external contractors and in-house mechanics) to deliver high-quality, cost-effective vehicle supply, repair, and maintenance services for a variety of fleet vehicles.
• Keep track of and drive vehicle availability across the business, identifying improvements.
• Continuously assess financial and operational performance, effectively managing operational assets and employees to ensure profitability and great customer service.
• Ensure the garage is equipped with the necessary diagnostic equipment for prompt resolution of defects, including hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical.
• Efficiently use and monitor the fleet management system for accurate workshop records including job cards, purchase orders, and compliance data.
• Ensure the garage is adequately staffed, and ensure proper training for mechanics and third-party contractors.
• Implement effective spare parts management systems and uphold high standards of workshop cleanliness.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures and SOPs for maintenance activities.
• Actively manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to optimise by setting budgets, reviewing and taking appropriate action.
• Conduct regular spot checks on vehicles to ensure compliance with legal requirements and report any issues for prompt resolution.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all garage and fleet maintenance operations.

Qualifications:

• Relevant technical qualification is required.
• Prior management experience in fleet service organisation or garage management.
• Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety legislation.
• Familiarity with workshop procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in managing labour-intensive, multi-shift environments.
