Job Description - VP of Product

ROLE:   VP of Product (B2B, SaaS based company)

LOCATION:        Remote first organisation – All Ireland

Barden is delighted to be partnering exclusively with our Client to support the appointment of a ‘ Vice President of Product ‘.

“We’re currently seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join the organization as ‘VP of Product’. This pivotal role will lead our product strategy, drive the development of our industry-leading automation solution, and oversee our product and design function. The ideal person will bring a strong background in B2B SaaS product management, a proven track record of delivering successful products to market (including expertise in pricing strategy), and exceptional leadership skills to inspire and guide our product team. This position offers a unique opportunity for high visibility and strong customer and C-Suite interactions across strategic initiatives and product roadmap development”. Chief Technical Officer

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Key responsibilities:

In this role, your responsibilities will encompass various key areas critical to the organization’s product success. While the allocation of time may vary based on evolving business needs, your responsibilities will include aspects of Strategy, Product Development & Delivery and team oversight & development. An overview is provided as follows:

Strategy roadmap & initiatives: 40%

  • Product Strategy: Working with the CTO to develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy aligned with the Organisations’ overall business objectives and market opportunities. This involves understanding customer needs, competitive dynamics, and industry trends to drive product innovation and differentiation. Develop deep insights into target markets to inform product roadmap prioritization and go-to-market strategies.
  • Product Roadmap Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and prioritize the product roadmap, balancing customer needs, business goals, and technical feasibility. Ensure alignment between product development initiatives and go-to-market strategies to drive maximum impact and value delivery.
  • Go-to-Market Strategy: Work with the CTO, and the Marketing and Sales team on go-to-market (GTM) strategies for product launches, including pricing, positioning, and distribution plans. Collaborate closely with marketing, sales, and customer success teams to ensure successful product launches and adoption in target markets.
  • Represent The Organisations across various platforms, including industry events, conferences, and customer meetings, to promote our products and thought leadership in the automation space.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: Champion a customer-centric approach to product development and go-to-market activities, ensuring that product decisions are informed by deep understanding of customer needs, pain points, and preferences. Foster strong relationships with key customers to gather feedback and validate product direction.

Product Development & Delivery: 30%

  • Leverage your technical background to provide guidance and leadership to the product team in designing and delivering robust, scalable, and innovative solutions that meet the needs of enterprise customers. Ensure that technical decisions align with business objectives and industry best practices.
  • Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to launch, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products that meet customer requirements and expectations. Work closely with engineering teams to prioritize features, allocate resources, and manage dependencies effectively.
  • Product Positioning and Messaging: Define and refine product positioning, messaging, and value proposition to effectively communicate the unique benefits of the Organisations’ solutions to enterprise customers. Work closely with marketing and sales teams to develop go-to-market strategies and collateral that resonate with target audiences.
  • Product Performance and Optimization: Monitor key performance metrics and product KPIs to assess the success and impact of product initiatives. Use data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement and optimization and iterate on the product roadmap accordingly to drive continuous innovation and value delivery.
  • Customer Advocacy and Relationship Management: Act as a champion for customers within the organization, advocating for their needs and ensuring that their voices are heard in product decision-making processes. Build strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders to gather feedback, validate product direction, and drive customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Bring a depth of experience on product best practices to the function.

Coaching / Leadership / Team Development: 30%

  • Provide strong leadership to the product management and design teams, setting clear goals, expectations, and priorities. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that encourages creativity and innovation.
  • Identify opportunities for skills development within the product management and design teams. Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to help team members grow and excel in their roles.
  • By fulfilling these responsibilities, you’ll play a crucial role in driving the success and growth of the Organization’s product offerings in the enterprise B2B market, leveraging your technical expertise and strategic vision to deliver impactful solutions that address customer needs and drive business value.

ABOUT THE PERSON:

  • Ranging from 8 to 15 years of product management experience in a B2B SaaS organisation, with a proven track record of delivering successful products to market.
  • Strong technical background and acumen, with the ability to partner effectively with technical teams.
  • Proven experience developing and executing go-to-market strategies for new product launches and feature releases.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders with respect to the organisations go to market strategies including Marketing, Sales and Customer Success.
  • Experience in developing and executing strategic roadmaps and short, medium & long-term product strategies that drive business growth and competitive differentiation.
  • Visionary leadership skills, with the ability to see and map out the long-term vision for the product and inspire the team to achieve it.
  • Demonstrated ability to actively engage with customers, gather feedback, and represent the business across various platforms, including industry events and customer meetings.
