Transport Planner

My client based in west Dublin is dedicated to providing top-quality products to it's customers across Ireland. They are seeking a skilled Transport Planner to contribute to their logistics department, ensuring efficient transportation of goods and maintaining of their reputation for reliability and timeliness.

As a Transport Planner, you will play a pivotal role in managing transportation operations in Dublin. You will be responsible for coordinating the movement of goods, optimizing delivery routes, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

This is a full time permanent role with standard working hours of 8:30 - 17:30, Monday to Friday. There is an on call element to this role also, this would be one in every four weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and coordinate transportation activities, including route scheduling, vehicle assignments, and driver allocation.
• Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) to optimize routes and reduce costs while maintaining high levels of service.
• Full responsibility for the Rigid Schedule ensuring maximum optimisation of the Fleet.
• Monitor transportation performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Stay abreast of industry regulations and ensure compliance with transportation laws and regulations.
• Address any issues or delays in transportation operations promptly, working to minimize disruptions and maintain customer satisfaction.
• Foster strong relationships with external stakeholders, including carriers and suppliers, to support effective transportation operations.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in transportation planning, preferably within the FMCG industry.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and route optimization software.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing transportation challenges.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
