Job Description - Duty Maintenance Engineering Specialist

As a Duty Maintenance Engineering Specialist in the Maintenance & Engineering department, you will report to the Duty Maintenance Manager (DMM) and assist the DMM in providing technical support to the Aer Lingus Part 145 & Aer Lingus Flight Operations working 24 X 7 shifts. Our Maintenance & Engineering department helps us to drive Aer Lingus’ ambition by ensuring that all aircraft are maintained in accordance with aviation regulations and manufacturer guidelines to guarantee the highest level of safety for passengers and crew.

Your responsibilities as a Duty Maintenance Engineering Specialist will include:

  • Real-time monitoring of on-board aircraft systems using various software applications.
  • Reliability management involving the continuous assessment of aircraft defects through management of Post Flight Reports (PFRs) and Repeat Item Tracker (RITs) to maximize fleet reliability.
  • Aircraft on Ground (AOG) support; supporting all aspects of returning an aircraft to service.
  • Liaising with engine and other OEMs for any technical issues.
  • Monitoring of aircraft Minimum Equipment List (MEL) deferred defects, ensuring rectification in timely manner.
  • Out of hours Airworthiness Directive (AD) monitoring to assist the Engineering Department in maintaining airworthiness standards.
  • Engage with flight crew to address technical queries.
  • Management of outstation defects and AOG situations to ensure Aer Lingus personnel and contracted Part 145 have relevant EASA Part 21 approved data. 
  • Coordinate with the Line Maintenance teams at all approved line stations to ensure all required maintenance is carried out at these locations within the respective due dates and times.
  • Execute responsibilities as outlined in the CAME and MCC procedures.

Your qualifications and key criteria

We are looking for an individual with experience / qualifications in the following areas:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance.
  • Hold a recent aircraft maintenance technical qualification with experience on Airbus A32F or A330 family aircraft in EASA Part 66 B1 or B2 disciplines.
  • Have knowledge of European aviation air legislation relating to their job function.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a current valid airside pass which includes the ability to pass a 5-year security background check.
  • Good working knowledge of the Airbus Software suite.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with the ability to learn new systems.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Eligible to live and work in the EU.
  • Hold a current full driving licence.
  • Possess and be able to demonstrate the key competencies and skills outlined below.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated individual with a high level of initiative and commitment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team but also demonstrate the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet tight deadlines and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to have a calm measured response to sometimes urgent problem solving.
  • Enthusiastic and flexible team member.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Able to provide 2 verifiable references.
  • Able to pass a strict airport security vetting procedure which includes a 5-year background check (or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport).
  • This position is based in Dublin.
  • A positive attitude with a high level of flexibility and the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Eligible to live and work in the EU.
  • Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport.
