Head of Maintenance

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Maintenance for our client, a food supplier. As the Head of Maintenance, you will lead a team of operatives, ensuring the smooth operation of a large plant machinery and manufacturing lines. This role requires a driven, self-starter who can contribute to building structures and processes within the maintenance department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership : Lead and manage a team of operatives, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
• Machinery Expertise : Possess a comprehensive understanding of large plant machinery and manufacturing lines to effectively oversee maintenance activities.
• Process Improvement : Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization, implementing strategies to enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Cross-Industry Experience : Experience in other industries with high-format processes could be advantageous, bringing fresh perspectives and innovative approaches to maintenance operations.
• Autonomy and Goal Orientation : Operate with a high degree of autonomy, focusing on outcome-oriented goals to drive continuous improvement and achieve targets.
• Ownership of Specific Areas : Take ownership of key areas within the maintenance department, including preventative maintenance, scheduling, contractor management, internal team management, parts procurement, and repairs.
• Preventative Maintenance : Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
• Contractor Management : Coordinate with external contractors for specialized maintenance tasks, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
• Budget Management : Manage maintenance budgets effectively, optimizing resource allocation and controlling costs while maintaining high standards of equipment performance.
• Reporting and Documentation : Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including schedules, repairs, and equipment performance metrics.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field preferred.
• Proven experience in maintenance management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong technical expertise in large plant machinery and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
• Experience in developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs.
• Proficiency in budget management and cost control.
• Familiarity with maintenance software and tools for scheduling and tracking maintenance activities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
