Job Description - Manufacturing Operations Lead

A Strategic Government Initiative led by the IDA, the DMI is a newly established centre which is helping Irish-based manufacturers (MNCs and SMEs) to access and accelerate their adoption of digital technologies. Location:

The role will be located in the DMI HQ in the National Technology Park, Castletroy, Limerick, Ireland, with the option to work remotely on a hybridbasis.

Key Responsibilities andDuties:

Job Function:

Reporting directly to the Director of Manufacturing, Operations and Supply Chain the Manufacturing Operations SME will play a pivotal role in identifying areas for Digitalization and facilitating Digitalization Transformation initiatives for our clients. This SME will provide Manufacturing expertise, insights, and tactical support for optimizing their current manufacturing and business processes. This role will involve direct collaboration with Manufacturing Clients in developing Digitalization Implementation Roadmaps and supporting the execution through ‘hands on’ tactical support within the DMI Optimization Framework.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Manufacturing Operations and Supply Chain to develop operational frameworks for implementing digital transformation initiatives with clients, including defining key objectives and strategies.
  • Assess the current digitalization readiness of clients' manufacturing operations and identify areas for collaboration and improvement.
  • Translate client needs into actionable programs and initiatives that align with their digital transformation goals and objectives.
  • Define and operationalize digitalization strategies related to workforce transformation, automation, and data science to drive sustainable improvements in operational effectiveness.
  • Assist clients in preparing roadmaps for use case development and execution, focusing on process excellence and business outcomes such as quality, cost, delivery, and transactional processes.
  • Provide hands-on tactical support to clients in executing digitalisation initiatives, including creating dashboards, metrics, and daily management strategies to drive operational improvements.
  • Collaborate with other DMI stakeholders on initiatives related to workforce transformation, technology adoption, data science, governance, and marketing to ensure alignment and synergy acrossprojects.
  • Exhibit key behavioral indicators such as integrity, transparency, trust, accountability, and an agile approach to supporting all functions while adhering to DMI's mission, vision, andvalues.
  • Provide necessary governance, input, and status updates using various platforms such as Wrike, HubSpot, and bid proposals to ensure effective communication and transparency.
  • Perform any other duties as required by DMI and assigned by the Director of Manufacturing Operations to support the evolving needs of the organization.

Key Skills and Competencies:

Experience /Skills:

  • 5-10 years of operational leadership experience within the manufacturing sector, with a proven track record of delivering results in quality, cost, delivery, and people management.
  • Experience across various sectors, including MedTech and associated manufacturers, with a deep understanding of the sector's ecosystem.
  • Recognized SME within the manufacturing sector with expertise in operational excellence and business excellence.
  • Broad-based experience in manufacturing, including new product introduction, project management, and supply chain management.
  • Experience in change management within the manufacturing sector, driving substantial and sustainable improvements.
  • Exposure to and experience in digitalization of manufacturing processes, including automation, paperless systems, dashboards, and predictive maintenance.
  • Proven influencing and effective communication skills to execute change across multiple functions and enable client buy-in across collaboration opportunities.
