Job Description
The Gas Inspectors specific responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Schedule and Carry out Audits and Inspections in accordance with the Criteria Document using the Common Performance Evaluation System (CPES) as agreed with CRU. Criteria Document Version 1.7 - 13/08/2020
- Inspection types are normally but not limited to routine, follow up, spot, application, disciplinary, complaint and special.
- Inspections and Audit findings are to be uploaded to the Scheme Information Management System (SIMS).
- Prepare reports outlining the findings of Audits and Inspections, audits and Inspections are to be risk based and are both announced and unannounced.
- Undertake gas related enforcement investigations in respect of individuals or companies undertaking Gas Works or portraying themselves as being an RGI without being registered with the Gas SSB, attending court trials as an expert witness
- Inspectors should be available by phone or email to answer technical queries and provide clarification to the registered contractors regarding the operation of the SSB schemes.
- Assist the SSB Administration and Certificate validation team with queries and clarifications.
Qualifications
- Level 6 Advanced Craft Certificate in Gas Fitting, Electrical, Plumbling, Refrigeration or Pipefitting
- Possess a Domestic Gas Safety Award (DGS) or equivalent
- Minimum 5 + years’ relevant experience in a regulated gas related industry
- Full clean drivers licence
Additional Information
- High level of written and verbal communication skills
- Be capable of registering as an RGI
- Experience working on LPG Systems and Installations
- Strong knowledge of the Irish Standard for Non-Domestic Gas Installations - IS 820
- Ability to operate with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to problem solve.
- A detailed understanding of safety in gas installations in hazardous areas.
- Process good judgement and fairness in applying the code
- Must be dependable
- High level of knowledge regarding Gas theory, inspection equipment, safety & local codes.
- Confident in assessing risks
