Role
- To assist in the management of this dynamic department, performing as the Mechanical Contracts Manager
- Be commercially focused and have a reputation for achieving a high degree of customer satisfaction
- Lead the delivery of mechanical contracts within this department
- Provide strong technical knowledge to ensure contracts are delivered in compliance with Employers Requirements, specifications and drawings, as well as to the highest possible standards
Duties and Responsibilities
- Managing, monitoring and successfully delivering Mechanical Contracts for our clients within a range of sectors including Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Leisure and Large-Scale Residential
- As a manager, you will have the responsibility of ensuring all works are carried out to a high standard ensuring all RAMS and site safety plans are project specific and adhered to
- Procurement and ordering of key materials and appointments of subcontract supply chain, ensuring specifications and drawing requirements are being complied with
- Have good working relationship with our clients and ensure that all works are programmed and completed in a professional controlled manner. Providing technical support to customers and team
- Attending regular main contractor design, technical and progress meetings
- Managing the in-house and subcontract labour resources, ensuring quality of work and compliance with all legal and statutory requirements. Ensuring all engineers are up to date with all current regulations and training
- Accurately monitoring and costing contract change instructions/variations
- Issuing interim valuation claims accurately in line with works completed on site
- Problem Solving; You will be expected to be able to cope with unforeseen M&E technical problems with confidence and ease
- Ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with our written policies and good practice
- Preparing and presenting internal monthly contract reports detailing key performance indicators as well as stringent cost reporting
Requirements
- Time served Plumber/Heating Engineer with commercial and industrial experience and/or Building Services Engineering Degree
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar role, with a proven track record and experience in all aspects of mechanical installations and regulations
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and to work to a plan to avoid disappointments
- Good interpersonal skills to create meaningful reciprocal relationships with both colleagues and clients
- Commercially aware of costs and trends in the market place.
- Good knowledge of safety, health, environment and quality systems
- Good personal organisation, honesty, communication, ownership, reliability and dependability
- Praise and recognition of individuals and the team for a job well done
Desirable
- HNC/HND in Building Services Engineering
- Use of specialist software packages such as Amtech, AutoDesk products and the like
- Understand electrical skills including controls systems
