The Iona Resource Centre (IRC) in Drumcondra, Dublin provides day opportunities to support people with sight loss. IRC offers an individual programme on one of our 3 core strands: Skills4Stability, Skills4Life or Skills4Me. Vision Ireland is currently seeking an IRC Driver to assist the National Day & Hub Services Manager & Deputy Resource Centre Manager in providing transport to enable service users to access activity sessions based across the centre and in the community. You will assist with enabling IRC service users to access sessions available from IRC and community based activities. This is a permanent part-time position comprising of 20 working hours per week. The role includes split shift duties which consist of 8am - 10am & 2pm - 4pm shifts, Monday to Friday. Principal Duties: To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes other day team members, service users and carers in order to ensure the delivery of a fully integrated service To attend meetings as required To actively promote the awareness of NCBI procedures in all aspects of employment To ensure that all blind peoples personal property and NCBI's resources are respected and appropriately used To ensure and maintain a safe and functional vehicle for both service users and staff To act as a link person with other professionals, parents and carers involved in blind peoples support as necessary To support and enable blind people to participate in their activity programmes To support the National Day & Hub Services Manager in implementing & achieving IRC Operational Plan To support the National Day & Hub Services Manager in the implementation of the HSE New Direction Policy & ensuring compliance with a Person Centred service. To carry out any other duties as reasonably requested by your line Manager or Senior Manager, relevant to the objectives of the post Selection Criteria: Mandatory: Education and Training A positive attitude towards service users with disabilities and an appreciation of this role's responsibility in keeping them safe. A clean Class B drivers licence Willingness to complete a D1 Driving qualification Achievements and Experience Experience of working with adults in social/leisure settings. Minimum of 3 years driving experience Ability to express ideas effectively, orally and in writing. A positive attitude towards work, colleagues and service users. Skills & Abilities Flexible working approach. Basic IT skills Good interpersonal skills. A clean, current driving license. Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance A progressive outlook and commitment to issues including disability and Equality & Diversity and the empowerment of service users. Shared belief in Vision Ireland core values & ethos. Desirable: Education and Training D1 Driving Licence First Aid Certificate. Achievements and Experience Minimum of 2 years' experience of working with individuals with a learning disability &/or sensory loss. Experience of liaison with community groups and other service providers. Skills & Abilities Access to own vehicle.
