Job Description - Associate Electrical Engineer

Associate Electrical Engineer

Lead projects. Influence strategy. Shape the future of building services.
Most Associate roles focus on managing delivery. This one gives you the opportunity to lead people, influence technical direction, and help grow one of Ireland's leading building services consultancies.

The Role
As an Associate Electrical Engineer in our Dublin office, you'll provide technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, healthcare, education, industrial, and mixed-use developments.
You'll lead multidisciplinary project teams, build long-term client relationships, mentor engineers, and play a key role in developing both our people and our business. From concept through to construction and handover, you'll have the autonomy to make decisions that deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the electrical discipline across multiple complex building services projects

  • Oversee project delivery from concept design through construction and final handover

  • Develop and review electrical design strategies, ensuring compliance with Irish and international standards

  • Provide technical leadership, quality assurance and governance across project teams

  • Manage client relationships, acting as the senior technical point of contact

  • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams

  • Review contractor submissions, technical designs and installation methodologies

  • Oversee project budgets, resource planning and commercial performance

  • Drive innovation, value engineering and sustainable design solutions

  • Lead site inspections, technical reviews and commissioning support

  • Mentor and develop engineers across all levels of the business

  • Support business development, proposals and strategic growth initiatives

What You'll Bring

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Services Engineering or Building Services Engineering

  • 8+ years' experience in electrical building services consultancy

  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary projects from concept through delivery

  • Strong technical knowledge of LV power, lighting, fire alarm, emergency systems, BMS, renewable technologies and wider building services

  • Experience managing clients, programmes, budgets and project teams

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit and industry-standard electrical design software

  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable:

  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)

  • Master's degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering

  • Experience across sectors including commercial, healthcare, residential, education, industrial or data centres

  • Experience contributing to business development and winning new work

What You'll Get
This isn't built around perks. It's built around how experienced engineers want to work. Greater influence, genuine autonomy, and the opportunity to shape both projects and people.

The Essentials

  • Competitive salary, bonus and pension that reflect your impact

  • 22 to 27 days annual leave, plus bank holidays

  • Flexible working across a 37.5-hour week—early start or later start, you decide

Career Progression

  • Executive-level mentoring and leadership development

  • Clear pathway towards Associate Director and Technical Director

  • IN2 Academy, CPD support and chartership development

  • Fully paid professional membership fees

Health and Wellbeing

  • Employee Assistance Programme and annual health checks

  • Wellbeing and fitness initiatives that support you long term

  • Cycle to Work scheme

Social and Community

  • Genuinely strong team culture, built through regular events and shared wins

  • Employee-led charity initiatives with real involvement

  • Offices in Dublin, London, Berlin, Belfast, Athlone and Madrid

Why IN2?
Across every role, electrical, mechanical, or BIM, the IN2 difference is the same: you're expected to think, lead, and shape outcomes, not just execute instructions. Here's what sets us apart.
Ownership from Day One
Whether you're an Engineer or a Senior, you'll have real accountability and decision-making authority. No waiting for permission. No layers of sign-off slowing you down.
Progression Based on Ability
Faster progression based on what you deliver, not how long you've been in the seat. A clear pathway from Engineer to Senior, Associate, Director and beyond.
Innovation Time
Dedicated time to develop new ideas, explore emerging technologies, and contribute to sustainability strategies—built into how we work, not bolted on.
High-Performance, Low-Ego Culture
A team that challenges each other, supports each other, and wins together. No hierarchy for hierarchy's sake. Just talented people doing exceptional work.
Complex, High-Profile Projects
Exposure to design-led, high-impact developments that push the boundaries of what building services engineering can achieve.
Global Reach
Work across offices in Dublin, London, Berlin, Belfast, Athlone and Madrid—a genuinely international practice with a collaborative, connected culture.
