Job Description - Audit & Accounts Manager

Role Overview



We are seeking an experienced Audit & Accounts Manager to join our growing team in Dundalk. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive professional looking to take the next step in their career by leading audit and accounts engagements, managing client relationships, and supporting the development of junior staff within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.


 


The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing the delivery of high-quality audit, accounting, and compliance services to a diverse client portfolio. The role will be office-based Monday to Thursday, with the flexibility of a half-day working from home on Fridays.


 


Key Responsibilities:




  • To lead and manage a portfolio of audit and accounts engagements, ensuring all engagements are completed in line with professional standards, in accordance with deadlines and agreed timeframes.

  • To oversee and review statutory financial statements, accounts files for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.

  • To review corporation tax returns prepared by junior staff and ensure filings are made in accordance with deadlines.

  • Manage, mentor, and develop junior staff, providing technical guidance, training, and conducting performance appraisals.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as the primary point of contact for assigned portfolios.

  • Plan and allocate work within the team, monitoring progress, profitability, budgets, and billable hours.

  • Conduct client meetings, including planning, interim, and closing meetings, and attend stock takes or other site visits as required.

  • Liaise with other departments within the firm to identify and deliver additional client services.

  • Prepare internal management reports on assignment status, financial performance, and team productivity.

  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and service quality.

  • Ensure compliance with all professional standards, ethics, and internal policies, upholding the firm’s code of conduct.

  • Maintain an advanced level of technical knowledge through reading, courses, and continuing professional development (CPD).

  • Contribute to business development, including preparing proposals and participating in client presentations.

  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development activities.

  • Assist with ad hoc business consultancy and other projects as required by the firm or director.



About You


 



  • Professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent

  • Experience working in a fast-paced audit department or practice

  • Proven ability to manage and lead teams

  • You will have strong technical knowledge, e.g., UK GAAP, FRS102, IFRS and ISA’s

  • Experience in audit and accounts preparation, ideally in a practice environment

  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills

  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Proactive, ambitious, and committed to professional development
