Position: Bar & Restaurant Manager
Department: The Courtyard Bard and Restaurant
Reports To: Operations Manager / General Manager

Purpose of the Role

The Bar & Restaurant Manager is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the beverage operations across the hotel’s outlets. This role requires a hands-on leader who ensures exceptional guest experiences, upholds the highest standards of service and quality, and drives team development, profitability, and innovation. You will be a key contributor to the overall success of the hotel’s food and beverage offering.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence

• Set and maintain high service and presentation standards across all beverage and restaurant areas.


• Organise efficient work practices and ensure all staff are trained to deliver a consistent and outstanding guest experience.


• Plan staff rotas to ensure appropriate coverage while controlling labour costs.


• Attend daily operational meetings and keep the team updated on business needs and guest expectations.
  

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, inspire, and support a team culture based on care, professionalism, and teamwork.


• Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, provide feedback, and celebrate success.


• Identify training needs and implement ongoing development for team members to ensure their growth.


• Ensure all team members are inducted, trained, and supported throughout their employment.


• Take part in regular performance appraisals, coaching, and mentoring in line with company standards.

Guest Experience & Service Standards

• Deliver a welcoming, friendly, and attentive atmosphere in all bar and restaurant areas.


• Ensure service standards consistently exceed guest expectations through continuous feedback and quality control.


• Maintain strong guest relations and handle any complaints or issues in a prompt and professional manner.

Systems & Procedures

• Implement thorough cash handling procedures to minimise errors and prevent loss.


• Support accurate monthly stock takes and reporting in conjunction with external partners or finance teams.


• Ensure all licensing, compliance, and operational protocols are adhered to at all times.

Flexibility & Team Spirit

• Display a flexible approach, supporting various departments as required to ensure smooth hotel operations.


• Contribute to a team-focused culture, where collaboration and mutual support are part of daily working life.
