Job Description - Bar Manager

RESPONSIBLE FOR MANAGING ALL ASPECTS OF THE BAR DEPARTMENT, INCLUDING OPERATIONAL ISSUES, ENSURING THAT ALL AREAS OF THE BEVERAGE DEPARTMENT MEET STANDARDS OF QUALITY AND SERVICE, WHILE PROVIDING A SUPPORTIVE AND CARING ENVIRONMENT FOR YOUR TEAM'S GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT. WORK CLOSELY WITH THE SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM TO OPTIMISE PROFITS, INCREASE SALES, AND PROMOTE DIVERSE BUSINESS INITIATIVES, ALL WHILE FOSTERING A CULTURE OF RESPECT AND WELL-BEING.


 


Duties Include:


 


Ø  In conjunction with the appointed managers, to establish and implement standards of performance within the food & beverage areas of the hotel, - ensuring that all services offered are of the highest standards of quality and all employees are trained in the delivery of same.


Ø To install, follow efficient/effective work methods and systems and to identify and agree schedules which will facilitate the achievement of high levels of staff productivity. To compile staff rotas, ensuring that they provide adequate cover in the most cost-effective manner without effecting service.


Ø To ensure that your departments is kept fully informed of guest requirements and changes to business patterns and that a member of the bar department attends the Daily morning meeting.


Ø To attend any meetings and training sessions when required to by the Human Resource Manager or Management.


Ø To accept ownership, and control of department budgets and costs, working with Management in reducing operating costs and to increase average spends and improve yield management within the division.


Ø To check duty rosters on a weekly/daily basis to ensure that we have sufficient staff members rostered to meet our service standards without being overstaffed.


Ø To assist the external stock take company with departmental monthly stock-takes.


Ø To ensure that we are booking entertainment only on occasions when a return on the expenses offers value.


Ø To ensure that systems for reporting future business is followed in a timely and efficient manner.


Ø To be involved in the promotion of the hotel from concept stage to increase business awareness and overall exposure to the company’s goals and objectives.


Ø To meet with the other Managers on a weekly basis to review future business and determine requirements for the coming four weeks in the food and beverage department.


Ø To ensure an Action plan is prepared for the Bar area for all events that take place in the hotel outlying areas of responsibilities for the team, stock levels for bars, opening times & time lines for tasks to be completed.


Ø To ensure that all cash handling procedures in the bar are comprehensive and practical in their operation, thus reducing errors, shortages and the potential for theft. 


Ø To manage and organise all staff within the bar and ensuring that required operational standards are achieved and maintained.


Ø To ensure the development and training of staff in new systems methods and procedures that may be introduced into food and beverage areas from time to time.


Ø To set a good example for management and staff with regard to punctuality, attendance, - attitude and application to work.


Ø To be responsible for the training and development of staff.


Ø To train all team in product knowledge, identifying training needs and implementing training policy.


Ø To compile a monthly training plan for discussion and implementation with our Human Resource Manager.


Ø To assist with staff appraisals at regular periods in accordance with company policies.
