REPORTING TO:                   Group Procurement Manager

Purpose of Role

To assist in the co-ordination of the sourcing of materials purchased directly by Flynn and to support the Purchasing Manager in his role.

Role Responsibilities

Materials Procurement

• Promptly place orders with suppliers & ensure project managers & QSs are kept up to date on delivery.


• Obtain best prices from suppliers and review regularly; for unusual or be-spoke items, obtain a minimum of 3 quotations.


• Plan project delivery taking into account price & lead time.


• Monitor project staff compliance with the Materials Procurement Policy.


• Manage the invoice and credit note process and maintain good communication with suppliers and Accounts.


• Generate Credit Agreements with suppliers in line with Accounts Payment terms and conditions.


• Put in place rebate terms with large suppliers. Maintain a Schedule of all rebate terms and ensure year-end credit notes are issued.


• Maintain accurate file & email storage to ensure proper and timely payment of invoices.


• Manage the company’s mobile phone register.
  

Safety Health & Environmental

• Ensure that all materials & equipment purchased by the company comply with the relevant safety standards.


• Ensure Material Safety Data Sheets are obtained where required; where appropriate, seek advice from the Safety Manager regarding health & safety or environmental implications of materials and equipment purchased.

Other

• Assist Estimating Department on pricing as required.


• Maintain the Warehouse & Stores areas ensuring such areas are tidy.


• Ensure the movement of materials and plant to and from the Warehouse is properly accounted for.


• Any other related responsibilities.

The Candidate

• 3+ years’ experience in a procurement department (preferably within the construction industry)


• Ability to work under pressure to meet goals and deadlines.


• Problem solver and results focused.


• Proficient negotiation skills and ability to plan for future needs for the business.


• Strong interpersonal skills.


• Strong emphasis on accuracy and detail.


• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.


• Good time management and organizational skills.


• Strong numeracy skills.


• Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency.
