We are currently recruiting for a Clinical Nurse Specialist - Diabetes position in a hospital based in South Dublin, Ireland. This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality patient care within a healthcare environment that prioritises excellence, respect, compassion, and patient-centred care.
Provide specialist nursing care and clinical support to patients with diabetes across the continuum of care
Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate individualised care and case management plans
Collaborate effectively with patients, families, carers, and the multidisciplinary team to optimise diabetes management and patient outcomes
Coordinate investigations, treatment, medication management, follow-up, and appropriate referral pathways
Deliver patient education, health promotion, counselling, and self-management support to promote informed decision-making and independence
Develop and manage nurse-led diabetes clinics and contribute to integrated care across Primary and Secondary Care
Promote evidence-based diabetes practice through the development and implementation of clinical standards, policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines
Provide clinical leadership, mentorship, education, and professional support to nursing and MDT colleagues
Participate in audit, research, data collection, quality improvement, and service development initiatives relating to diabetes care
Act as a specialist resource, advocate, and role model for diabetes nursing while promoting dignity, privacy, confidentiality, and person-centred care
Registered in the General Division of the active NMBI Register of Nurses and Midwives, or eligible for registration
Minimum 1 year of post-registration full-time nursing experience, or equivalent, in the relevant nursing division
Minimum 1 year of full-time experience, or equivalent, in the relevant specialist area of care
Hold a relevant Level 9 postgraduate qualification or higher, equivalent to at least 60 ECTS, in the specialist area
Demonstrate strong clinical, managerial, administrative, and organisational skills appropriate to the role
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
Demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development and lifelong learning
Demonstrate knowledge and application of evidence-based practice within specialist nursing care
