We are hiring a Clinical Specialist Cardiac Physiologist – Echocardiography (FTC)  to a Hospital in  Ireland.








Location: On-site – Dublin, Ireland




Job Type: Fixed Term / Full-time




 


 Responsibilities








  • Develop, plan, organise, and implement the cardiac physiology service in collaboration with the Chief I and Chief II Cardiac Physiologists, ensuring high standards of clinical practice and patient care.





  • Supervise, support, and coordinate the Cardiac Physiologists within the department, including participation in recruitment, staff evaluations, performance reviews, and workforce planning.





  • Provide specialist expertise in cardiac diagnostics, with comprehensive knowledge of procedures, techniques, equipment, accurate measurements, and developments within the specialist area.





  • Develop and implement structured orientation, induction, training, and competency programmes for new and existing staff, including physiologists working within the Cath Lab.





  • Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of cardiac procedures while maintaining appropriate departmental records, correcting outstanding documentation, and maintaining patient confidentiality.





  • Ensure all cardiac equipment is maintained and operated in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications, report malfunctions promptly, and contribute to equipment evaluation and purchasing recommendations.





  • Maintain and develop cardiology policies and procedures while supporting infection prevention, medication management, electrical safety, incident reporting, and a safe working environment.





  • Communicate effectively and professionally with Consultants, GPs, hospital staff, patients, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient needs are appropriately addressed.





  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, departmental meetings, incident investigations, and the continuous development of cardiac physiology services in line with current best practice.





  • Maintain professional competence through mandatory training, study days, continuing professional development, and a professional portfolio while acting as a preceptor or supervisor for students and newly appointed staff.





















Requirements




  • Hold a BSc in Clinical Measurement, a Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement from Dublin Institute of Technology, or an equivalent recognised qualification.




  • Hold A.S.C.S.T. membership with the Association for Cardiological Science and Technology (UK) or an equivalent professional qualification.




  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience working within a Cardiology Department.




  • Possess a valid Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification and demonstrate a strong general knowledge of cardiology.




  • Demonstrate strong clinical competence and relevant practical experience within a Cardiology Department.




  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, with a motivated, innovative, and collaborative approach to work.




  • Demonstrate knowledge of current developments in the specialist area and the ability to contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the cardiac physiology service, with a willingness to pursue IBHRE/BHRS certification in the future.
