Job Description - CNM 3 - Infection Prevention & Control




RecruitNet International Ltd specialises in Healthcare recruitment for Domestic and Overseas candidates for Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Home care and Community care.







We are urgently seeking CNM 3- Infection Prevention & Control for a hospital in Westmeath Ireland.







 Responsibilities






  • Offer advice on infection prevention and control matters to every hospital department aid in the selection, application, and assessment of infection prevention and control strategies.



  • To detect and address infection prevention and control issues, communicate with all hospital departments in an efficient and unambiguous manner.



  • Improve patient care by creating services centred on infection control and prevention to maximise care continuity and quality.



  • Create and carry out policies and procedures for infection prevention and control in compliance with national and international standards, directives, and laws.



  • HIQA and HPSC guidelines are among the national and worldwide infection prevention and control requirements that must be followed. Lead infection control audits and support hospital accreditation procedures to uphold the highest safety standards.




  • Make routine environmental tours to evaluate the facility's overall cleanliness and adherence to infection control regulations.



  • Develop and carry out quality improvement and infection prevention programs in conjunction with hospital administration.



  • Serve as a liaison between the healthcare facility and external agencies, such as public health departments and regulatory bodies, regarding infection prevention and control matters.



  • Regarding hospital renovations and any new developments, offer knowledgeable guidance on infection prevention and control.



  • Collaborate with all managers to ensure a clean, safe, and high-quality care environment and to promote a safe working environment for all staff in relation to infection prevention














Requirements




  • Hold a recognised postgraduate qualification in Infection Prevention & Control (Level 9 or equivalent), or a recognised IPC specialist certification (e.g., CIC, CIPS) supported by substantial IPC experience.



  • Possess, or be actively working towards, a management qualification at Level 8 or above, or have equivalent management experience at CNM 2 level or higher within an IPC or clinical governance setting.



  • Have a minimum of five years’ post-registration nursing experience, including significant experience in an IPC specialist role or at CNM 2 level.



  • Demonstrate proven leadership and management experience in developing, implementing, and overseeing Infection Prevention & Control programmes within an acute healthcare environment.



  • Have strong experience in healthcare-associated infection (HCAI) surveillance, clinical auditing, monitoring, and quality improvement initiatives.



  • Possess experience working with healthcare regulatory and accreditation bodies such as HIQA, CHKS, or equivalent organisations.



  • Show a successful track record in developing, reviewing, and implementing IPC policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.



  • Have experience designing and delivering IPC education, training, and awareness programmes for multidisciplinary healthcare teams.



  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in antimicrobial stewardship, healthcare risk management, and compliance with recognised accreditation standards, including CHKS and JAG where applicable.



  • Desirable experience includes working within a private acute hospital setting, active membership of a professional IPC organisation (e.g., IPS), and involvement in healthcare construction, renovation, or new-build projects from an IPC perspective.
