We are seeking an experienced and motivated CNM3 to lead and develop the Theatre Services Department, including the provision of anaesthetic services across the hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse manager to lead a dedicated Theatre Services team, influence service development, and play a key role in enhancing patient outcomes through the delivery of safe, efficient, and exceptional perioperative care.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day operational management of the Theatre Services Department, ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
Coordinate theatre activity, staffing, and resources to meet service demands and hospital objectives.
Provide clinical and professional leadership, acting as a role model for best nursing practice and compliance with NMBI standards.
Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, nursing staff, and the multidisciplinary team to deliver seamless perioperative care.
Lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and clinical governance.
Manage staff performance, rostering, appraisals, attendance, and professional development, creating a positive and supportive working environment.
Support budget management, resource utilisation, and the procurement of clinical equipment to ensure efficient service delivery.
Respond to clinical issues, complaints, and critical incidents in accordance with hospital policies and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and contribute to achieving departmental and organisational objectives.
Maintain professional competence through ongoing education, evidence-based practice, and participation in hospital initiatives, including emergency and major incident planning.
Requirements
Registered General Nurse
Be on the live register with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
Minimum 10 years proven clinical experience in an acute hospital, with at least 5 years in perioperative nursing
Minimum 3 years in a managerial or CNM2 equivalent experience within a theatre environment
Recognised post-registration qualification in perioperative nursing.
Proven leadership and team management experience in a theatre environment.
Strong knowledge of clinical governance, performance management and quality assurance
Postgraduate qualification in leadership, management or health service management desirable
Experience in clinical audit, change management and service innovation desirable
Proven ability to build strong collaborative relationships across all disciplines
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
