Construction Materials Technician

Overview: Due to continued expansion of the company and its objective to develop more environmentally sustainable products, people are required for predominantly on-site testing of Bituminous products for our Contract surfacing division. The role would also require secondary additional laboratory-based quality control testing and research of aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and bituminous binders. You are not someone who will shy away from hard work and in return, will receive a competitive remuneration package, as well as other benefits associated with a progressive employer. We are currently seeking a Construction Materials Technician to join our team in the Munster area. 

As a Construction Materials Technician you will be responsible for efficiently and effectively assist in the quality assurance of quarrying and surfacing products. To conduct onsite and offsite materials testing and update electronic records.


More about what you will do…

To test and sample aggregate, concrete, bituminous, unbound and earthworks materials including grading analysis, binder content and physical, chemical, and mechanical testing in a safe and efficient manner

To conduct daily organoleptic checks for lab, production facilities and all stockpiles 

To maintain a safe and tidy workspace and ensure the efficient running of the laboratory 

To maintain quality standards by following Company and accrediting bodies quality procedures and protocol.

To record sample details on test record sheets and laboratory software.

To calibrate all testing equipment.

To prepare for inspections from independent accrediting bodies

To undertake daily laboratory equipment checks

To investigate all material related complaints & provide suitable & sufficient feedback & evidence to support.

What we need from you…

Have previous experience in sampling and testing of construction materials or transferable skills from other employment types (as full training will be provided)

Hold a full driving licence and are capable to operate a small sized commercial van 

Have the awareness to work safely on a construction site or production depot 

Have a willingness to be flexible in your working pattern

Have the physical ability to carry out sampling and handling of bulky materials

Have the capacity to operate mechanical equipment such as an asphalt road coring drill

Enjoy interactions with internal customers, external contributors, and auditors

Have a tolerance for and ability to handle the administration of paperwork 

Have a planning, organising, and problem-solving attitude 

Have the ability to work on your own initiative
