Job Description - Credit Committee Member

Benjamin Real Estate Finance part of the Solance Group is a newly formed boutique lending firm focused on property-backed financing for high-end hospitality projects. Designed as a boutique operation, we take a selective and disciplined approach to our deal flow, prioritizing quality over quantity.

Although we are still in the early stages and have not yet issued any loans, our model is built on long-term value creation through careful underwriting, deep market knowledge, and close collaboration with experienced borrowers. We focus on the UK and broader European markets, applying a strategic and risk-aware approach to property finance.

We are now seeking an experienced and thoughtful professional to join our Credit Committee. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining the integrity of our lending decisions by independently assessing, challenging, and voting on proposed loans brought forward by the operational team.

What You’ll Do

• Credit Evaluation: Review and assess loan proposals, including underwriting packages, borrower profiles, and market context.

• Risk Assessment: Identify and challenge key credit risks such as borrower strength, market exposure, asset quality, and exit strategies.

• Sector Insight: Leverage your hospitality expertise to evaluate operational risks, demand drivers, and asset performance potential.

• Decision-Making: Participate in credit committee meetings, cast formal votes on credit approvals, and document your rationale in line with internal governance standards.

• Collaboration: Work constructively with the investment and risk teams to enhance deal structuring and ensure alignment with the firm’s credit appetite.

• Governance: Help uphold and refine the firm’s internal credit policies and contribute to the ongoing development of our credit risk framework.

Who You Are

• A seasoned professional with deep experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in operations, development, or finance.

• Familiar with real estate finance, credit evaluation, or structured lending principles.

• Comfortable assessing risk in asset-backed lending environments.

• Highly principled and analytical, with a rigorous and detail-oriented approach to decision-making.

• Experienced in the London hospitality property market (strong advantage).

• Prior credit or investment committee experience is helpful, but not essential.

• Resident in Ireland and able to commit to 4-6 board meetings per year in Dublin.

Time Commitment:

Ad hoc participation in credit committee meetings (estimated 4–6 per year), with flexibility for short-notice reviews and timely feedback when required.
