Job Description - Customer Support Technician

What You\u2019ll Do\n\nAs a Customer Support Technician, you\u0027ll work hands-on in a cleanroom environment to build and test our multimillion-dollar display and wafer fabrication equipment that\u2019s behind the technology we use every day\u2014 like the VR headset you use for gaming, the smart watch that tracks your heart rate, and advancing generations of your smart phone. As key member of a team of highly skilled engineers, technicians, and problem-solvers, you\u2019ll receive strong collaborative support and contribute your new ideas to help us continuously improve our processes and business.\n\nThis role is based at our customer site in Leixlip, Co. Kildare and operates on a rotating day\u2011and\u2011night shift pattern. Full training will be provided.\n\nRole Responsibilities: \n\n * Assist in planning the daily work schedule within assigned territory to ensure completion of Installation, Preventive Maintenance and/or remedial maintenance.\n * Use escalation policies to keep management informed of down situations.\n * Verify and approve the operational quality of system equipment. Perform quality checks daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, biannual, and annual periodic maintenance on systems within established time frames. Also perform wet cleans if/as required.\n * Instruct customers and trades personnel in the installation, operation and maintenance of systems. Troubleshoot and correct process variations on systems partially with assistance from senior engineers.\n * Assume responsibility for complete customer satisfaction. Assist in planning, communicating, and co-ordinating support plans with customer management.\n * Perform start-up, warranty, paid service, and service contract activities. Perform TIER 0,I \u0026 II start-ups within established time frames.\n * Use training and experience to identify some process related system problems.\n * Develop and implement plans to increase productivity. Tracks equipment performance, install cycle times and plan uptime improvement\n * Plan and execute support activities on a wide range of Applied Materials\u0027 systems.\n\n\n\nMinimum Qualifications: \n\n * An associate degree and field experience or technical certification\n * 1\u20132 years of related work experience in customer/field support \n * A willingness to learn how to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics \n * Clear and effective written/verbal communications skills, with an emphasis on documenting details \n * Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) \n * Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge in any of the following: pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics \n * Knowledge of hand tools and proper usage, including a digital multimeter \n\n\n\nPhysical Requirements:\n\nThis is a physically demanding position that often requires standing for extended periods of time, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, the ability to distinguish between colors, the ability to work in an environment with noise that may be difficult for some individuals with sensitivity to noise, the use of hand and power tools, and driving or operating heavy machinery including forklifts.\n\nAdditionally, because this position may involve working in a clean room, the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields may be required.\n\n## Qualifications\n\n### Education:\n\nAssociate\u0027s Degree\n\n### Skills\n\n### Certifications:\n\n### Languages:\n\n### Years of Experience:\n\n4 - 7 Years\n\n### Work Experience:\n\n## Additional Information\n\n### \n\n### Shift:\n\nOvertime Eligible (Ireland)\n\n### \n\n### Travel:\n\nYes, 10% of the Time\n\n### \n\n### Relocation Eligible:\n\nNo\n\n### Referral Payment Plan:\n\nNone\n\nApplied Materials is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
