Job Description - Data Engineer



The Role


As a Data Engineer at Hatched Analytics, you’ll be at the core of how we deliver value to institutional investors. Our pipelines and automation systems power reports on 70+ publicly listed companies, and you’ll play a key role in designing, scaling, and improving them. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role in a startup environment where your work will directly shape the company’s growth.



What We Need You To Do


  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines in Snowflake and AWS
  • Automate ingestion, validation, and transformation workflows using Python and SQL
  • Work with analysts to launch new tickers and ensure data integrity across client-facing reports
  • Develop and maintain internal tools and dashboards (Retool or similar)
  • Experiment with LLMs and ML automation to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency




What You Bring to Hatched


  • 2–5 years’ experience as a Data Engineer (or similar role)
  • Strong skills in Python and SQL for data scripting, wrangling, and automation
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake (or other warehouses) and AWS (S3, Lambda, EC2)
  • Solid understanding of database design
  • Familiarity with CI/CD (GitHub Actions) and version control (Git)
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, with exposure to best practices (PRs, code reviews)
  • Experience with internal tools/dashboards (Retool a plus)
  • Interest in applying automation and ML (including LLMs) to real-world data problems
  • A proactive, self-starter mindset with strong problem-solving skills
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
